These guys are absolutly terrible, i mean i'm into the whole hardcore punk scene and I don't get how people can listen to them.

I decided to give them a try at Warped Tour this year and the only redeeming quality about their set was that Flogging Molly and Bad Religion were coming on next.

Seeing them live reminded me why I never listened to them and I just can't understand how people think their good.

  • i like NOFX. War on Errorism is a great album. Never seen them live, but i could imagine them being quite messy, but it's punk music, so you get what you get. i have seen Flogging Molly and they fucking rock. So i guess, no, i don't hate NOFX as much as you.

i hate most punk music. learn to sing you fuckers. slurring your words to make it sound like you have attitude does not count.
  • I agree soulsinging. Almost all punk rock blows. Playing and singing sloppy doesn't sound good.
  • I dont hate punk music, I'm a huge fan, but after seeing these guys I was left dumbfounded

  • I love NOFX. They are one of my top 10 favorite bands. I have seen them live 3 times, and I thoroughly enjoyed each show.

Fat Mike is brilliant. His lyrics are as smart as anybody's. Obviously he can't sing in the traditional sense, but I am glad there is a genre of music that allows him to express his mind. He is bluntly honest about drug use (pro and con). He is fearlessly outspoken against organized religion.

I love so many of their songs:
    The Decline
    Seperation of Church and Skate
    Dinosaurs Will Die
    Leaving Jesusland
    Best God is Show
    The Brews
    Scavenger Type
    Bob
    Kill All The White Man
    You're Wrong

What specifically didn't you like about them?
  • Fat Mike in particular, he was a fucking ass theentire show, and I felt what he was doing was really degrading for the whole scene. He was obviously messed up during the performance. And didn't seem to care that he was coming off as one of the biggest asses ever.

going into seeing them i was looking foward to it because I had heard good things about them, but he killed it for me.

I have no problem with his ability (or lack there of) to sing, I believe in artists rights to express themselves, and I've enjoyed plenty of bands who can't sing. But this guy was absolutly pathetic in his actions and demenor.

and dont start going off aabuot my spelling, i really dont care

  • You still aren't being really specific about what he did. Being fucked up at shows is part of his schtick. By his own admission he is a drug addicted alcoholic. I think it is pretty amusing, but maybe it isn't your thing. Oh well, I saw your question and being a fan I thought I would respond.
  • i dont kknow, i probably waited way to long after the show to start complaining about them, but i saw something about them the other day and it reminded me of the show. I saw them back in July, and have seen plenty of shows since them to place it far in the back of my mind. maybe i just went in expecting to much, and not understanding Fat Mike's persona enough. My mistake. And i really appreciate everyones views and respect everyones taste in music, I'm sorry if I came off the wrong way to any of their fans on here.

Thats what i get, and i hope someday to be able to shed a new light on these guys

    The State Of Alert EP
    Black Flag
    Minor Threat
    Agent Orange
    Fugazi
    Government Issue
    Bad Religion
    The Adolescents

Those are all great examples of fundamental, true punk rock. Black Flag and Fugazi are my absolute favorites of that list. Minor Threat was a great project from Ian too.

Everyone gives props to The Ramones for standardizing punk rock...but I think Ian MacKaye was a true visionary for punk rock and represented everything that it was meant to be....the guy is a legend in punk rock, and is a true pioneer of refusing to conform to the mainstream.

Ian MacKaye = One true motherfucker keepin' it real. :D

I don't listen to NOFX, so I can't put in my philosophy about them...but I will say this:

It's a disgrace to hear bands like Good Charlotte, MXPX, Sum 41, Blink 182, and Green Day as punk rock.

They are not a favorite, but I do not hate them
In fact, I used to like them. I think I listened to them briefly, at some point in my early 20s

Punk will never be my favorite type of music, although there are some bands I enjoy, and are great in their kind, or what they do. But, I don't think there is a single punk band in my top 10 favorite bands - just a question of preferences...
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

I hate nofx... but I also hate any band associated with the warped tour. Same with pretty much all the annoying high school idiots that go there.

that sounds pretty "punk" to me.

personally i'm not into them either though.

give Flogging Molly a chance, not really in the same thread as Less Than Jake, NOFX, and Bad Religion in my opinion. They're a great live band too. February they'll be in NYC and Philly.

The more I think about it, this is probably what is true for me. Its more of Fat Mike that I don't like than the band or its music per say
