The only PJ I've ever known
More of a personal thread than anything but.. I'm bored.
So I had to go out somewhere the other night and had little time to choose a disc to listen to on route.. so I grabbed Live on Two Legs at random.
A few things dawned on me while listening to it...
1) I hadn't listened to LO2L in probably 4-5+ years. SO GOOD. Best versions of Hail, Hail & Red Mosquito.
2) I really only became a PJ devotee around 1998. I actually remember Yield as being the first Pearl Jam CD I waited outside of a music store to purchase. And it was around this time that I became more mature and the internet made information and music so much more available.
so really, the only Pearl Jam I've known is the current band w/Matt. Kinda neat I thought considering all the shows I've been to have been this band and only this band.
It was really cool to hear some of the songs and how they sounded on LO2L.. (slower Given to fly)
I also thought back on the days I used to play an illegal copy of Duke Nukem 3D while listening to No Code over and over and over again.
Anyone else on here really only become a fan during the Matt years?
Oh, I'm also in my early stages of post tour depression... and strangely I miss Mike and Matt the most. Don't know why.

I became a fan in 2005 but my cousin made me a CD with songs from Ten to Riot Act. That's how I became used to the band. I'm still more familiar with the lineup now and it's tough for me to choose which lineup I like best. They've made great albums with different drummers so it doesn't matter to me.Shows: 6.27.08 Hartford, CT/5.15.10 Hartford, CT/6.18.2011 Hartford, CT (EV Solo)/10.19.13 Brooklyn/10.25.13 Hartford

I jumped on the PJ wagon when I heard "Vitalogy". The first two albums were a little too corporate for my taste...like Guns & Roses or something...I appreciated them but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to them.
"Vitalogy" was when I started to take notice, and "Yield" was THE ONE that did me in.0 -

i was introduced to them right after vitalogy came out - at christmas of 94... so i'm actually not sure who was technically the drummer. was dave a still in the band when vitalogy came out?
when i saw them live though it was the mighty jack irons behind the kit. looking forward to seeing happy matt this time around (the soundgarden gig i saw was about 3 months before they split..)0 -
From '92 as well.Saw the video for Alive on a tv show called 'The Power Hour' that used to air very early sat mornings.Used to tape then watch when got up in morning.Saw PJ and was totally hooked from that minute.Remember telling everyone who would listen that there was a new band around called PEARL JAM that could change your life.Saw them a couple of months later in Glasgow, was on guest list,so no ticket, but did take a poster off the walls inside and got a t-shirt with dates in back where they spelt Glasgow as GlasglowGlasgow Cathouse 1992

Bought Ten and VS at about the same time ... 93? And loved them. Drove about 45 minutes to get the Vitolagy CD at midnight instead of waiting until the next day to buy it. Never saw them live and fell out of touch with them until 2008 as I didn't have time for them due to my addiction with The Boss. Found this board in 2008 after I went to my first PJ show (MSG 2), went to Philly 4 and am now addicted.6-25-2008 MSG
