Consider this...today alone - 24,000 individuals will die of hunger or hunger-related issues. Three-fourths of the deaths are children under the age of five.
What can you do to help? After a simple click of the yellow "Click Here to Give - it's FREE" button at The Hunger Site, http://www.thehungersite.com there is a Hunger Charity Poll: Help Us Decide! The Hunger Site's charity partner, GreaterGood.org, received a generous gift of stock worth over $30,000. Help us decide how to distribute this gift! The top three vote-getters will each receive a $10,000 grant to help the hungry. The 2 United States charity listings are:
---Forgotten Harvest: Transporting food to soup kitchens and shelters in the Detroit area.
---The Food Project: Teens and volunteers growing healthy food for residents of eastern Massachusetts

This is one way to make a difference in the world without costing you a cent. Visitors to http://www.thehungersite.com help provide food to those in need and pay nothing. Everyone is born, but not everyone is born the same. Some will grow to be butchers, or bakers, or candlestick makers. Some will only be really good at making Jell-O salad. One way or another, though, every human being is unique, for better or for worse.

  • There is still an opportunity to vote! To find out more about these organizations and the good they do - please check out their websites. Thanks!

 The Forgotten Harvest - Detroit http://www.forgottenharvest.org/index.html Donated food—that would otherwise go to waste—is delivered free of charge to emergency food providers in the metro Detroit area. The individuals and families served are as diverse as the community’s residents – young and old, from all races and faiths.

 The Food Project - Massachusetts http://thefoodproject.org/what-we-do Each season, they grow nearly a quarter-million pounds of food without chemical pesticides, donating half to local shelters. They sell the remainder of our produce through Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) crop “shares” and farmers’ markets. Locally, they educate urban gardeners about lead-contaminated soil and promote raised bed gardening by residents and organizations in Boston and Lynn.
