Yeah, saw this. Without an official announcement I'm still not completely convinced it'll happen.

I really don't understand why the superbowl has music apperances at halftime.

I guess i just hate it that recently all they do is roll out old dinosaurs from the past (stones, petty, bruce, now the who)

Don't get me wrong i like all of them but it seems like a drag.

It's all about ratings and what demographics those groups pull in. Personally, I have no problems with the artists they have pulled in so far, but, eventually, the rock roster will get thin and not sure what direction they go in from there. My guess is it will start to scale more country-oriented, as those artists are now more likely to pull in the rating numbers the NFL/networks want.

THE WHO TO PLAY THE SUPERBOWL?

Rumours circulating that The Who are going to play at the Superbowl in Miami in February are pure speculation.

Strangely, they didn't debunk it. They just said it's "speculation". There could be negotiations going on with The Who, and the speculation may be accurate. If it weren't happening, I would think they would say "Rumours circulating that The Who are going to play at the Superbowl in Miami in February are untrue".

I'm not a fan of this. The other old rockers were fine - Bruce is still tremendous live, Petty still rocks, and Paul & the Stones are the two biggest acts of all time and could have stood up there for all I care and still put on a better show than anyone else.

However, the Who are (in my opinion) washed up with only 1/2 the original band. At least the above mentioned were still original and still toward the top of their game. Either get someone that still rocks (Petty, Bruce, Paul) or someone relevant and at the top of their game.

Acts that would have been better: Stevie Wonder, Kings of Leon/White Stripes, Garth Brooks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jay-Z.

Personally, I probably would have voted Jay-Z. He is big enough to do it, just released an album, safe (he doesn't swear that much and is pretty tame), and has a wide range of fans.

It just depends on who they are trying to get to watch the Superbowl.

A certain demographic will watch the Superbowl no matter what. So it would make sense for them to branch out and get fans of a particular huge band/artist to watch, who may not watch normally.

Ya know, Brian Jones (RIP), Mick Taylor, and Bill Wyman might disagree. :P ;)

It was confirmed in NYC this morning on WFAN (a sports radio station) who was interviewing Jon Bon Jovi who said they had been asked, but were unavailable and he understood that The Who had confirmed they were doing it.

Too bad its not Pearl Jam performing Who songs...Love Reign, The Real Me, and Baba. However, I realize that in reality we were much, much closer to landing Bon Jovi or a cheesy country act so thank god for the Who.
