Strings on Parting Ways?

I read a description of Backspacer somewhere a while ago and I remember one of the guys (Ed or Mike) saying that they had never incorporated strings into their song arrangements before.

However, I was just listening to Binaural and on Parting Ways, the outro seems to have a viola playing in the background...

Or maybe I am just hearing things...

    Matt's wife plus someone else. Did the strings live Seattle #2 of 2000. Not sure hornd swer used in the past. Almost sounds like it in All those Yesterdays.
