First off...
this trade isn't as bad as an earlier post believes.
Red Sox with Manny don't win anything this year and since winning is all tht matters you make the trade.
Brandon Moss - nice utility player but was perfect trade bait cause he has no future here.
Craig Hansen - mental midget who can't hack it pitching in a big city team like Boston. He can go to Pittsburg and do well.
Basically we get Jason Bay for rest of year and next year. It still leaves the Red Sox with about 15 Million of Manny money in off season to get a top pitcher like Sabathia, Burnett or Sheets or Harden.
It reminds me when we traded Nomar for Orlando Cabrera and Doug
Minkew whatever his name was.
Oh yea, and then we won the 2004 world series.
Manny was gone in 2 months and we were going nowhere fast with him here so basically we got Bay for hansen and moss.. good deal.
It's time to gel and go on a run.
Still only 3 games out.

We also lost two picks that we would have received when we let Manny go.

Wow, that is just about the most ridiculous post ever.
Yeah, keep telling yourself it was Hansen and Moss for Bay. Fact is, the Sox are a worse team now, than they were at 3pm today. Their hand was forced, and they had to make the deal, but it was NOT a good deal. The teams involved fleeced them, because they knew the Sox were stuck.
