Yim Yames (jim james more folky alter ego) has "a full length solo record coming soon" according to yimyames.com. though it's been that way for a while. his Tribute to George Harrison is a pretty good listen if you are really aching=p

The MMJ hiatus is especially brutal for me considering I had to give up my tix to the MSG New Year's Eve show, and because of that have never seen them live. :(

Fans of both celestial Southern indie and crudely animated, reference-based Seth MacFarlane comedy will have a very good day on November 22. According to the MacFarlane fan site Stewie's Playground (via TwentyFourBit), My Morning Jacket will make a guest appearance, in animated form, on the November 22 episode of MacFarlane's show "American Dad!". From all available evidence, the show will pretty much center around the band.
In the episode, titled "My Morning Straitjacket" (get it? get it?), main character Stan Smith will become an obsessed fan of the band.

UPDATE: MMJ's publicist reports that the episode will feature six songs from the band. Also, comedian and The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis will appear as an MMJ superfan.

Well, if any of you get the chance to see Monsters of Folk live, do so! They put on a great show, and the album itself is no slouch either.

I have no problem waiting for new material from my favorite artists because, especially in MMJ's case, their back catalogue is so strong that you can listen to that in the meantime.
  • not necissarily MISSING mmj yet, cuz lets face it they probably wouldnt have put out another album yet, or be touring so whats to miss per say.

its the uncertainty thats bugging me and the lack of info about what is going on. I hope to god they come back.

Hands down of the best bands. Seen them 7 times, hope to add to that number in the next year or so.

The Monsters Of Folk show is great if you need a fix. The new album is much better live in my opinion. And Jim James really tests the acoustics of the concert halls they are playing. I saw them at the Academy of Music in Philly last Monday and it was a really good show. M. Ward does a great job, as well as Jim James, could have done without Conor Oberst, seems flat and too "matter of fact" with his songs.

Check out archive.org for a boatload of bootlegs for MMJ. Hopefully that will help you get through your jonze!

Throw Okonokos in your CD player or watch the DVD.

Been to this many PJ shows: Reading 2006 London 2007 Manchester & London 2009 Dublin, Belfast, London, Nijmegen & Berlin 2010 Manchester 1 & Manchester 2 2012...

... and I still think Drive-By Truckers are better.
