Anyone familiar with the Roseland in NYC?

Taking my daughter to AFI later this week. Is the balcony usually open and open for regular ticketholders? The front for AFI actually gets pretty hardcore but if you're not in the front you can't see too well, so if the balcony is open we're going up there.

Only been there once. Saw The Prodigy earlier this year there. Had to wait outside in a long ass line for awhile before they let anyone in. That was the only bad part. Interesting venue, but i was on the floor not the bacony (not sure that was open) wasn't really paying attention, sorry.

  • Been there a bunch... Never been in the balcony but I know it was open for the Black Crowes last year. Could it be assigned seating??

No assigned seating, that much I know. With AFI its just one big pit - I like them, but I would like to be able to see without being in the melee in front - while they are more mainstream now, they still have quite a punk/hardcore following which I love, but I'm a little old to be in the middle of it. That's encouraging that the balcony was open for the Black Crowes - thanks for answering.

    this is my exact thought.
i've been to roseland numerous times - also saw the black crowes there too, amongst other shows - and i LOVE the place! that and hammerstein, great small venues.....and i always go for the GA floor at both spots so never experienced the balcony. i always mix up hammerstein and roseland, so i am unsure....but one of em at least has a balcony with seats. i guess the other is just n open balcony? idk. either way, both are totally GREAT places for a show!
    Stay with me...
    Let's just breathe...

I am myself like you somehow

Oh - after reading Decides2dream's post I see what you meant - I thought you were referring to the main floor/assigned seating, but you meant in the balcony. If its assigned seating our tickets do not show that so maybe its vips up there.... hopefully not. I've seen several shows at Terminal 5, and also at the Electric Factory in Philly and both of those had open balcony so that's what I was envisioning.

Why not call or email roseland and ask them. I haven't seen afi since they became "emo". When is the concert?
Ron: I just don't feel like going out tonight
    Sammi: Wanna just break up?
