Never heard of them, any good? :)
  • Easily one of the most talented lyricists of our generation. This guy was dubbed "the new dylan" nd he obviously hated the label, because lets face it, trying to live up to bob dylan's legacy is a tough road, but he certainly deserved the honor of it anyways.

Anything Conor Oberst touches turns to gold. I'm Wide Awake its Morning is a flawless record. And Cassadega isnt too shabby either.

Few people are writing almost mystical and stream of consciousness yet still meaningful lyrics.

I find his music deals alot with not belonging, with being lost and scared and unsure of yourself.

From what I hear Conor has one more Bright Eyes album in him, then he is done with that moniker.

Although what was odd about his last 2 albums, the stuff with mystic valley band, how is any of that different than Bright Eyes? Bright Eyes is Conor Oberst.

Anyways, brilliant musician, the dylan of our generation.

it is kinda odd that his "solo" albums with the mystic valley band are more of a band effort than any of his albums with the "band" bright eyes... where he was always totally in charge.

i'm not a huge fan of his work before fevers & mirrors or his many b-side compilations, but all the actual bright eyes albums and the mystic valley stuff is incredible.

His early stuff is absolutely astounding, good live too. Highly recommend fevers & mirrors and Lifted or the story is in the soil..

But he is lost his way a little imo, haven't heard his latest album but his solo stuff has been as good
Now it all comes down to numbers, now I'm glad that I have quit

also his part on the new mosters of folk album is pretty darn good.

agreed...everything before cassadaga is pretty unlistenable for me. I had a girlfriend who was a huge fan and all the early stuff just killed me. I thought cassadaga was good and his solo albums were alright. saw him on the first mystic valley band tour and wasn't too pleased with the vibe of the show...very awkward feeling. I'm still not sure how i feel about his work to be honest.

well the crowd wasn't the best..but the band looked and felt very awkward. whenever they talked it felt like they really weren't happy to be there. conor and a couple other guys might've been drunk which wasn't uncommon at times and it just was kinda weird compared to every other show i've been to. just not sure i'd want to go and see hiim again.

My favorites are definitely 'Lifted' & 'Digital Ash'

Conor Oberst is just amazing-- I'll listen to whatever project he works on, whether Bright Eyes, MOF, etc!!

Monsters Of Folk is the best album to come out in the last 3 months - maybe album of the year. And Oberst is the least talented one on the record. Fucking awesome.
