"ITW" during my Mom's funeral. Thank you, EV..

My mom died on the 28 oct 2009. She was only 58. Her favorite record of all time was "Into The Wild" by EV.
I am Pearl Jam fan since the beginning of the band, however it was my brother and my Dad's idea to play her favorite CD during the service.
This music has never had so much meaning to me before..
Thank you, Eddie, on Her behalf.. I am sure She will protect you from wherever She left for..

  • You've got a big family here. We're all here for you and so sorry for your loss.
If hope can grow from dirt like me ...
  • I am also very sorry for your loss. I imagine you came here to express it because if anyone can understand and appreciate your choosing of ITW it would be in the 10C. The music will take on new meaning for you and will always be a comfort for you in the future.

My father passed away a little over a year ago. My brother and I also decided to stray from typical music that would be played. He was a big fan of PJ but we decided to play some of his favorites for his service. Neil Young was his favorite so we played Old Man and Comes a Time, Fire and Rain by James Taylor and Cats in the Cradle by Harry Chapin.

Afterwards and to this day I'm still happy we sent him off like we thought he would want it. You'll be going through some tough times in the future but I imagine you have some great memories with your mother to remember her by and some great music to soundtrack those memories.

Again, extremely sorry for your loss.

So sorry to hear your news. 58 is so young. I lost my mother when she was 60 and now, ten years later, I still miss her on a daily basis. What you described at her funeral would have made her so proud. You chose to have her final tribute truely reflect her tastes and interests. And as long as you keep those interests alive, you haven't really lost her. Find peace in all that she loved and she will live on through you.
It's nice to be nice to the nice.
