Local as in Nassau County Local. Who cares, we weren't sports writers so it never caught on, lol!mcgruff10 said:
How locally? I definitely don’t remember “Mags”.tempo_n_groove said:
We used it locally, apparently it never caught on, lol.igotid88 said:
I knew of Pags and Rags. I don't remember Magstempo_n_groove said:
We used to call Mattingly "Mags", you had Pags and Rags playing on the team at one time so we added a third name to rhyme.igotid88 said:
Who's Mags?tempo_n_groove said:
I would normally agree but I don't think Baines or Trammel should be in so no Mags either for me. 3 wrongs doesn't make a right.igotid88 said:
If Baines and Trammell are in then Mattingly shouldtempo_n_groove said:
No on both.igotid88 said:
Marvin Miller is the only one that should be in on that list.0 -
So long, jake. Really don’t want to look back at what I said because I know I defended that contract. What a waste. That said, what would have been a bigger disaster, that or Cano for $240 mil?
What coulda be Greg bird, that ones disappointing0 -
At least Cano played and could have given us at least 5 good years.Cliffy6745 said:So long, jake. Really don’t want to look back at what I said because I know I defended that contract. What a waste. That said, what would have been a bigger disaster, that or Cano for $240 mil?

Mattingly's Marlins should take a chance on Bird.I miss igotid880

Yeah, would have had 5 dead years too though and a suspension. Disaster either way.igotid88 said:

Would Gleyber be here if they kept cano?!0 -
Yes. Isn't he a shortstop originally? Thought Didi would block him from coming up.Cliffy6745 said:

Speaking of Didi. I forgot to post this a couple of weeks ago. But the Reds have expressed interest in him. Whatever a team offers Didi. I don't think the Yankees will offer an extra year.Post edited by igotid88 onI miss igotid880 -
Hope this ellsbury situation doesn’t hurt them in signing free agents. Not paying contracts isn’t a good look0

He made $244,000+ for every game he ever appeared in....even if they keep the $26M.Cliffy6745 said:Hope this ellsbury situation doesn’t hurt them in signing free agents. Not paying contracts isn’t a good look

Greg Bird is now a free agent declining an assignment to ScrantonI miss igotid880

Tough to see them missing out on Cole, but who knows.

Honestly, my offseason moves would be to sign Cole, Betances and Gardner. Will be the World Series favorites if they do.0 -
"The dollars will be there" is not something we have heard in a very long time from this team. Don't get my hopes up, Yanks.0 -
This is good. My hopes are up, god dammit.

I didn't know pitching coaches were in charge of nutrition, sleep and thw what not? I thought they did mechanics mainly and the trainers/doctors did the other stuff?
Or am I just looking too far into this and the coach has these things at their disposal now?0 -
Yeah, good stuff for sure.tempo_n_groove said:

I think it's an organizational philosophy, but this Blake dude comes from one of those pitching companies prior to the Indians, so I'm sure he'll be really involved with that stuff, especially as it comes to pitching. I listened to a podcast with people who have worked with him who talked a lot about how he makes sure your body is in the right type of shape to avoid injuries and all, so sounds like that kind of stuff aligns with him.0 -
Sounds like the Mets organization should look into this too.Cliffy6745 said:
