Sleight Of Hand has THE most haunting lyrics of them all. I like to read the lyrics by themselves and then play the song. This seems to let the gravity behind the words sink in deeper. Here are the lyrics below, and a video I thought was a good interpretation of the lyrics above. Enjoy.
Routine was the theme,... he'd wake up,..wash and pour himself
Into uniform,... something he hadn't imagined being...
As the merging traffic passed,... he found himself staring,..
Down,... at his own... hands..
Not remembering the change,... not recalling the plan,
Was it...?
He was okay,... but wondering... about wandering
Was it age?... By consequence?... or was he moved by
Sleight of hand?
Mondays were made to fall,... lost on a road he knew by heart
It was like a book he read in his sleep,... endlessly...
Sometimes he hid in his radio,... watching others pull into their homes
While he was drifting...
On a line,... of his own,... off the line,... on the side
Bye the by,.... as dirt turned to sand,
As if moved by sleight of hand...
When he reached the shore of his... clip-on world...
He resurfaced to the norm
Organized his few things,... his coat and keys...
Any new realizations... would have to wait...
Til he had more time,... more time...
Time to dream,... to himself... he waves goodbye,
To himself... I'll see you on the other side...
Another man...moved by sleight of hand...

what better than this
"..That's One Happy Fuckin Ghost.."
“..That came up on the Pillow Case...This is for the Greek, With Our Apologies.....”
one of the best pj lines ever
i got taken by Pearl Jam when in '94 when i was just 13 but the first time i saw em live was in Berlin in Sept 2006. As I was boarding the plane at Newcastle airport, this guy came up to me and appreciated my shirt and then told me that he was the PJ tour bus driver... i had no words at that point cuz too much was dawning on me... i have a bad fear of flyin and after Binaural got released, the last verse of Sleight of Hand has been a prayer for me generally but especially when i fly... the note with that last verse had stayed in my wallet since the end of 2000... after we landed in Berlin, i desperately wanted to talk with that man, and when i thought i'd lost him at Immigration (cuz my passport obviously took some time to get stamped somehow it took him longer to get outta there... amazin... we met at the train station and journeyed together til the venue...we talked about a lotta things including how stressful his job was despite how it might seem... still he liked being on the road with decent men... in the train, i gave him my note with the last verse, to give to Eddie, and he kept it safe in his specs' case...
i thought that my plane ride back was the worst i'd ever had... it was not simply a matter of writing those words on another piece of paper... it was that piece of paper which i had no more... for me the turbulance on that journey was such that in a way i'd come to terms with everythin...(after all i do believe in the Other Side) i thought it was clearly just me but when we landed the fellow Jammer sittin next to me says "wasn't that the worst plabe ride ever?" and i asked him if he too had a fear of flyin, and he said, no... not all....
the power of these words...
I was at the San Diego show in October and started talking with a guy who looked in his late forties or early fifties, who said that he went to high school with Kelly Curtis.
