The Shining scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Not the entire movie, but more so a few scenes.
the one in particular were the two twin girls in the hallway. I had nightmares of those twins for years

Jaws. I was so afraid that he was going to come up the toilet and bite my bum :?

Did I mention that I was a small child when it came out? I'm sure that I never even saw the movie, it was probably just the commercials that got me all riled up.:lol::lol: That's the only one that I can think of. I never was much for scary or horror movies.

Books on the other hand, combined with a vivid and active imagination, have caused me a lot of terror through the years, especially when I was young. :? :)

I saw The Excorcist when I was 9  :? .... everyone at school was talking about having seen it and it was funny  ..... I stole my 19 year old brothers pirate copy and watched it with two friends .... I sat motionless .... rooted to the floor with fear.
I soon discovered that all the kids that claimed to have seen it were talking shit, there was no way they had seen it  .
My brother found out I had stolen the tape and I got the hiding of my life from my dad.

I have never watched it again ... even when it's paroded I am petrified and close to tears when I hear the music ... when it comes to The Exorcist I will forever be that 9 year old kid.

also though the Boston Strangler that scared me- I can't watch scary movies at all really.

All of them... Jaws, Nightmare on Elm Street, Any of the Jason movies... even Chucky. I was a pretty chickenshit kid. Mind you, I was probably 8 at the time I watched those movies.

But if I had to choose just one, it would be The Exorcist, hands down. Most terrifying movie ever. I still get nightmares after watching it, and I'm 24.

  • Heck, I had one scare the crap out of me a few years ago. I watched Emily Rose for the second time, at home alone one night. I went to bed shortly thereafter, probably around 12:30am. I had left the TV on but put it on mute when I was ready to go to sleep.

At exactly 3:00am, I shot straight up in bed to the sound of gunfire. Turns out the mute had been turned off and a Sopranos episode was on TV with the volume as loud as it would go. I tried to convince myself that my cat had done all of this by stepping on the remote in order to calm myself and go back to sleep. Needless to say, I have NEVER watched that movie again.

  • Hellraiser. Saw it when I was 6 and had nightmares of that skinless dude sitting in the corner of my room, writing messages on the wall in blood..

Also, Unsolved Mysteries. There was an episode about a haunted house that fucked me up pretty good.
