about the Spectrum's demise? The guys did amazing work of saying goodbye and truly relayed respect. This a venue with killer sound and intimacy. The vast architecture at the WC eats sound and Camden is...well its Camden. I think of the people, events, shoes that have graced its grounds and for it now to be torn down for a shopping complex makes me ill. The playground of the greats is being dismantled but the memories here are some of the most beautiful and this farewell is something I will never forget. The setlists and crowd energy were elevated to a whole different level and the emotion of it all ws a bit intoxicating. Thanks PJ for 4 incredible evenings - you did it classy right. Cheers.
got a car...got some gas...oh let's get out of here-get out of here fast...
I hope you get this message but your not home...I will be there in just a minute or so...
I want to go but I want to go with you.

  • In all honesty, that place is a shit hole.
Hopefully they'll put something nicer in its place.

I hear ya- the drains were backed up in the bathrooms- stinky and hot. Its impossible to move on the concourse and the floor gets nasty in the stands. The plans for the new shopping complex, hotel area are nice...I'm just sad to see it go.

be nice if they just fixed up the joint instead of wrecking it

seriously, all they need to do is expand the concourse and add a few loos upstairs

but it doesnt make financial sense to have that building with all the other facilities

i am suffering serious post concert depression. i was looking forward to these shows for so long and they exceeded expectations. i can't believe it's over already!

i'm also sad about the spectrum. sure it's a dump but the sound is unlike any other venue i've been to. love seeing concerts there.

I'll feel less sad if a way can be found to improve sound in the cavernous Wacho Center. Post Pearl Jam Tour Depression Syndrome has set in for me big time !!!

That's what gets me...if they were tearing it down to put something of value in its place it'd be one thing but jesus christ, a fucking mall? It's so depressing.

I am so thankful I got to be a part of these four shows. The boys really gave the place the farewell it deserves.
  • The actual arena is awesome. Great acoustics, great view from wherever you are sitting. But everything else about the building is a joke and it should have been destroyed years ago.

Im not upset about the Spectrum. Im not from Philly, so I dont have any memories of the building except 1 Phantoms game and all the events of this week.

I am a little depressed the week of shows has come to an end. So many great memories over the past 5 nights. Ill never forget any of the 4 shows. I cant wait to hear the bootlegs so in some way I can re-live each show.

I met a bunch of great 10c-ers as well.

I too am suffering from post-concert depression. For months we have been on these message boards day and night with anticipation and now its over

I'm gonna throw out this word once again: EPIC. I have no regrets of all the money that was spent on these 4 shows or the time I should have been studying or working. Because seeing the guys play all the rarities and having the crowd sing at the top of their lungs with the band looking with disbelief was priceless. I hope they build another venue, same size, nicer, most importantly bigger concourses with the same sound. I most likely will never be as close as I was at these shows (specifically Friday).

Oh well, bring on the boots and the DVD!
  • I drove to the Spectrum from Washington DC four times. Once to see Phish, once to see PJ in '03, to see Neil Young and Wilco last December, and for the Halloween show. I got very misty during the pre-show Spectrum video. Then the lights came down, the guys came on to Rocky, Ed yelled into the mic "This Is It!" and they tore into Why Go; I was very overcome with emotion. One of the top most powerful moments I've ever experienced at a show. Yes, I am sad, but glad I got to be there for the end. It was amazing.
  • Little sad. But the sheer joy of getting there for Wednesday with my son for his first ever concert and getting there Saturday with my wife totally outweighed the sadness.

While at the Saturday show I met a dad with his 14 year old from Philly and while we were reminiscing about the place (Concerts he has been to & sporting events, rocky film) I realized it was the site of my first ever arena show.
