This is it. Movie.

I suggested to a friend to not pay to see such a movie. The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about this movie, two months ago, was that somebody would make money with mj´s death. This idea made me not trust the purpose behind this film. (if you knew me, I don´t trust anyone). ( ).

Anyways, that´s my point of view. My friend joked around, I assume he was joking, that I am just saying that becuase I got to see PJ (we live in guatemala), wich I travelled to seattle and LA to see X 4. So I see the movie as something fake, rather than live.

I wiki´d the movie and saw that in fact there is a lot of controversy related to this. (I dont follow the news as much as I would like).

Made me wonder what PJ fans think about this.

I agree. If you look at what is reported about mj and his kids and all these rumors, etc. That's just people trying to still get money out of him instead of letting him rest in peace and leave his children alone. I won't watch the movie either and listen to his songs instead.....

i don't know who's profiting from this but i hear the film is excellent ... i would think if you are a MJ fan - you would see this as it's probably the most "truthful" insight people are gonna get on someone who's been demonized quite a bit in the media ...

I heard that one of the reasons the film was made was to recoup some of the lost money due to MJs death and the cancellation of the shows. Apparently the shows were going to gross 50 million but were costing 15million to put on. A lot of that money had already been spent.

I have to admit I'm a sucker for these kinds of things. I'm going to see the film tomorrow night, and I'll post my review here after that.
  • There was money spent on a tour that never happened, and the man owed everyobne and their brother money. No shame in recouping that.

I would have to assume the promoter took out insurance for such a potentially devastating interruption. MJ wasn't exactly known for performing when he was supposed to, EG the HBO/Beacon Theater performance a dozen or so years ago.

The deal was made between sony music, AEG live and MJ´s estate. So I assume that whoever kept his rights agreed to this film.

I still think that all of them really just wanted to take advantage of this moment in time to make some money out of it. Why not wait to announce the film until many unanswered questions related to his death have been revealed? Not to mention making it and releasing it. Not a year has passed since he died and are already willing to put something in the market to profit from it.

I agree with you polaris, though. Specifically on the fact that this might be the closest a documentary would get to put MJ as a real person doing what he did best.

AEG stating this is a tribute to MJ is what really makes me give them the finger. That they are giving MJ a second chance with this film. By putting only "good footage" on the film? Don´t give me bullshit. He was sick at the time. Re release his dvd´s of better times, maybe. But don´t put together some footage and say it´s a tribute.

I read where the documentation of his rehearsals for the tour were for Michael Jackson's library. So after his death someone decided to release such film of the rehearsals to of course make some money for whatever reasons. BTW the movie was very good and those concerts in London and elsewhere were going to be out of this world however it was not to be.

Yeah... kind of like Nirvana Unplugged in New York hitting the record stores the same year Cobain died (and in time for the holidays). ;)

I saw the movie. I enjoyed it and went into it w/no expectations. It gives you an idea of what the European tour would have looked like, which is cool including the set design for "Thriller." I'm guessing it'll come out on DVD with plenty of bonus footage. If you're an MJ fan, go see it in the theatre.

I heard on the news yesterday that MJ is the 4th dead guy to make the most money. I can't remember who the top 3 were. I know Elvis was one of them, but even he wasn't the top dog.
So what if the movie makes money. It is the public who chooses to give the money.
I think MJ was a very sick soul, but very talented in marketing himself, even in death. If you don't like the way things are going down, don't go see it.

I agree. And I won't. I never was much of an MJ fan and I do not see any reason to begin now. ;) :? :)

I thought I read that his autopsy revealed that he was in perfect health when he died.

I wouldn't go see it for the same reason. To me, it's one last grab for cash from his family or WHOEVER is putting this out.

That man was used his entire life by those people and even now when he's dead they are trying to squeeze more blood money out of his dead body.

    It's sad. :|

If your an MJ fan, fuck the principles of the money making machine.

What is shown is how intelligent that guy was with music...his timing was impeccible. His moves so slick (don't care about what they left on cutting room floor).

Why so much drama about whether to see it, go and enjoy a bloody good film showcasing amazing songs and dancing.

Fucking politics in appreciating music - that's what is sad.

    Absolutely.

I've just been watching some of the movie online, and it is pretty damn good. It's amazing seeing a performer so totally uninhibited in his performance. His moves were still incredible and I had almost forgotten what a brilliant voice he had. The part where he's singing Human Nature in the film gave me goosebumps.

I can understand why people might see this as cashing in, but people want to see that footage and would have been disappointed had it not been made available.

    I still think it's sad.

His parents made him this amazing performer so he could be famous but they didn't tend to his emotional upbringing and he was left as a lop-sided person that supported them all and was unhappy.
