Sitting in spectrum parking lot talking to a cop who
just said the 2am rumor is confirmed to be real, and he says there is a strong rumor going around that Springsteen is showing up.

Thanx dude, the Pearl Jam spies continue to gather valuable intel!
  • I won't believe it until I see it on Saturday. Cops like to chat and offer bullshit much of the time. Still, I wouldn't be surprised by a long show and a surprise guest.

And they also buy into the same rumors we all do and repeat them as fact... not saying its not true, but I highly doubt they would all know that info at this point, would they?

Well actually, if you think about it the Philly Police Dept. would really need to know a lot of this info now (moreso the curfew thing, no so much the Springsteen part). I mean Saturday night is going to be a tremendous night in south Philly from a traffic/law enforcement perspective, and that's an understatement. PPD needs to have its plan 100% in place, the sooner the better, so that it can organize its personnel in advance of that night. Like I said, we're talking crowd control/police presence during the afternoon's tailgating hours for both the Phillies and PJ events, traffic control before and after both events, and of course police personnel insde both venues that night (AND its Halloween, so people will no doubt be extra rowdy). I'd almost guarantee you there have been meetings and plans already set in motion for 10/31, so I'd find it incredibly hard to believe that the cops would be at all in the dark, especially about this particular night! ;)

Oh yeah - they definitely would know about the time thing. I just don't know that they would know special guests, etc at this point unless they are working for the band or maybe higher-ups at the venue who need to make sure they are taken care of while there.

We'll see though... I'd rather just PJ for a long set but I'll take whatever they want to go with :)

Reminds me of the Toledo 2004 VFC show. When I was being patted down at the door, the 2 cops standing there were talking loudly about how they saw Pete Townshend backstage and he was going to be a surprise guest. I asked one of them if this was true and he replied "yes." Well, it was Peter Frampton and Neil Young. So, who knows?

I do agree that they probably know by now, if anything for overtime purposes, about the curfew and other stuff going on in the area this weekend.

I really hope Springsteen shows up. It'll be really cool if PJ can play one of his songs. Thunder Road anyone?

The Flyers are also playing at home at 1pm that day. I am going to try to get my 10c seats early but I can imagine it being crazy with Phillies/PJ tailgating, Flyers game and 10c members picking up tickets

And on top of all this, a pending Septa strike that (from an article today) stands an "80 percent chance" of happening
  • I was at the front of the line to get in when the doors opened last night and heard a similar story from the event staff. They were talking among themselves and then included a bunch of us when we seemed interested - they had just been informed that on Saturday they had to come back over to the Spectrum after the Flyers game and that they wouldn't be leaving until between 1-2am.

No other details, but it looks like Saturday has the potential to be an epic show!
