King Crimson - Confusion will be my epitaph

This band needs their own thread. 8-)

In the Court of the Crimson King is a masterpiece if I ever heard one.
And I need to listen to more. I am not all that familiar with their newer stuff. Any advice?

Never mind the different lineups, the spaces in between where they did not exist as a band, their work will survive them.

I have been lucky enough to see Robert Fripp, Tony Levin and Adrian Belew live
Unluckily not all together. But one can dream and hope...

And now, some beautiful lyrics...

Epitaph

The wall on which the prophets wrote
Is cracking at the seams.
Upon the instruments if death
The sunlight brightly gleams.
When every man is torn apart
With nightmares and with dreams,
Will no one lay the laurel wreath
As silence drowns the screams.

Between the iron gates of fate,
The seeds of time were sown,
And watered by the deeds of those
Who know and who are known;
Knowledge is a deadly friend
When no one sets the rules.
The fate of all mankind I see
Is in the hands of fools.

Confusion will be my epitaph.
As I crawl a cracked and broken path
If we make it we can all sit back
and laugh.
But I fear tomorrow I'll be crying,
Yes I fear tomorrow I'll be crying.
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

The Wetton/Fripp/Bruford/Cross version of this band is one of my all-time favorite bands......"Starless" is one of my favorite songs and "Red" is a beloved album. :ugeek:
All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a thousand enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

    That was a brilliant lineup.

Starless is also a favorite of mine. And Red is fantastic, period.

I need to become more acquainted with their 90s and 2000s stuff. Any suggestions?

which reminds me of another song I love by them, Starless...

    Sundown dazzling day
    Gold through my eyes
    But my eyes turned within
    Only see
    Starless and bible black

    Old friend charity
    Cruel twisted smile
    And the smile signals emptiness
    For me
    Starless and bible black

    Ice blue silver sky
    Fades into grey
To a grey hope that oh years to be
    Starless and bible black
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

The live show from Argentina would be a good place to start

That would be a great place to start. I am not sure if I will be able to find the bootleg here, but I might. There are a few places I can check.

I did not even know of them back in 94... a pity, I am sure they rocked.

My guitar teacher turned me onto them a few years ago. I agree Court of the Crimson King is a masterpiece. It's actually the only album I have listened to but I think I need to start digging a little deeper.

It's an "Official Bootleg"....as in released by the band and sold in retail stores.....check out the Discipline Global Mobile website.....I think that is still the name of their label/organization.

oh yeah, I know it is official, but I mean I would like to find it here in Argentina, rather than purchasing it online, since that might be much more expensive that way. It is sold in Amazon at any rate, but thanks for this other info.
