Can't believe that this as not been a topic of conversation yet this morning. Eddie said that over the course of the 4 nights, they plan on playing every song they know. That got me all excited! What about the rest of you.

  • He said something like that in Massachusetts in 2003. They ended up playing a lot of songs but not all.

If they do that will be sick.
Drop, drop, dropping it down...oh, so gently...

  • He said they plan to play ALMOST every song they know. It won't be every song, but it will probably be close.

every song they know, meaning every song they know how to play

I am sure there are quite a few PJ songs they don´t remember how to play, unless they practice them beforehand quite a bit

Still should be a fair number of songs, you lucky things. 8-)
I am just a dreamer, but you are just a dream...
If I knew where it was I would take you there.

You don't honestly think he meant for that statement to be taken literally, do you?
I suggest you step out on your porch...run away my son...see it all...oh see the world // I wait on the porch...hoping someday I'll be let in

they won't...but they'll come pretty fuckin close. i'm buyin all 4 of these boots when it's said and done.
  • I wonder if... they know that U2 song "Running to stand still"
  • They did take 3 weeks off just to prepare for these shows, so who knows. Now, if I could just get them to spend 30 minutes to prep for a Michigan show.
  • Why does everybody have to take Eddie so literally all the time? He's also been known to say things like, "see you next year" and not make it back to that city for 5 years or "not sure when we'll be back" and then return the following year. I'm sure they will play a ton of songs over the course of 4 nights, but I think its more along the lines of almost every song they have recently played, not every song they have ever played.

I agree that they won't literally play every one of their songs that they know. However it seems like they might be doing something similar to the "experiment" from a few years back. Last night's setlist was definitely more unique, so I anticipate it will get close to the whole catalog (minus filler tracks/songs they've forgotten).

Playing every song they know is just amazing. I was at the Mansfield 1 and 3 show when they played every song that they were playing on tour that year and it was just amazing. I couldn't imagine hearing them play every song they know (of course it won't be every song but pretty close). I wish I could be in Philly for all four shows but can't take time off for work and have to be home for my daughters on halloween but will be there friday. CAN"T WAIT. Can't wait to get these bootlegs.

Pearl Jam has to be the only band out there that would attempt this. How many bands can play four shows with different songs and have the crowd sing along to a majority of them. It just shows how talented pearl jam is as a live band.

i've thought about this. pj has quite a catalogue. i also don't think ed has the greatest memory. ;) so all the songs they "know".....may not add up to all the songs they've ever actually recorded.

    just sayin'...

seriously, i don't expect ALL....just so cool to know they might break out a lot of rarities and some NEVER played tunes.....*cough* other side 10.31 *cough*

I just hope when this shit is done, people aren't trying to say "Mansfield was still better than Philly!" or "Philly kicked Mansfield's ASS!!1!" and then begins all the Philly is better than Boston or Boston is better than Philly threads ... that shit gets old quick.

Enjoy your shows Philly, I said they'd be special ... and it appears they will indeed be that.

  • Didn't ed make that comment right around when he was talking about the rumors about stone quitting via the message pit?

Me-thinks that ed ved was making fun of 2 rumors at the same time: the sone one, and the one about the never-ending Halloween show.

yeah, that was my impression, too. i do think that they'll try to play as many different songs as they can...but definitely think the 2am thing was a joke.

That 2 am thing does sound crazy, but didnt someone else say that the ushers for the Spectrum are on call until 2 am for Saturday's show or something like that?? Anything can happen this weekend! I wish I was apart of it.
