The Shining: Kubrick admitting he filmed moon landing

According to this essay, Kubrick was hired by the U.S. government to film the moon landing after their viewing of 2001: A Space Odyssey. The guilt of duping everyone overwhelmed Kubrick, so when he took on The Shining he lefts hints throughout the movie that the Apollo 11 mission was fake and that he was involved. Regardless of what you believe, it's an interesting read:

Possibly the dumbest conspiracy theory I have ever heard, also a quick glance at the rest of his site suggests the guy may believe in alchemy too. Total crackpot.

I personally don't believe, or want to believe, the moon landing was faked, but this guy certainly did a good job defending his position using the movie, interesting!

We all know the moon landing was fake. The moon is made of green cheese and the lunar module would have sunk.

I'm usually the first person to discount a conspiracy theory, but I have to say I've had my doubts about the moon landing for a long time.

Heck, it's 40 years later and NASA is still struggling to pull off space shuttle mission with any degree of consistency.

I love this stuff and am normally more open to it than most...I have yet to see all of the inconsistencies surrounding the lunar landing be debunked....but man, some of that is a stretch...

It seems that this focuses on the deviations from the King novel, but there ARE some points made in the essay that relate back to the source material....so was King in on it too?

In case anyone misreads the thread title like I did: Kubrick doesn't admit to this in the link....the theory is that the movie itself is a cryptic admission of involvement....

    They've had 2 disasters in ~130 missions.

  • I love reading stuff like this. I don't believe it but some of it was pretty interesting. I really don't believe the government would contract a man to film the greatest hoax ever pulled on mankind and then let him continue to make new films virtually giving away the truth through artistic expression. He would have "had an accident" long ago.

Truth be told, I don't give a shit if we landed on the moon or not. It's a lifeless rock that's been beaten to death by meteors. I'd rather go to Maui.

Oh, and if the kid wasn't wearing the Apollo 11 sweater, none of the rest of this shit would have been written. That's the costume designers fault. Should have had a Dallas Cowboys sweatshirt on anyways.

I am still amazed that people even consider the moon landing was faked. I mean if you think about it logically the conspiracy makes no sense. There was something like half a million people working on various projects related to gettting that moon mission working. So were they all in on the hoax and all managed to keep quiet? Or did they spend all that money and build something that worked and then just not use it? Neither of those options make sense.

Plus if you are going to try and pull off a hoax like that, why would you repeat it 6 times? Not to mention if they faked the Apollo 11 mission did they fake the Apollo 13 mission as well? What would be the point of that?

Maybe they HAVE landed since... who the hell knows... or cares... it was the first one that mattered... it was the first one that won 'the race' and beat Russia... and nobody disputes the fact that, even though it was faked, they were trying desperately for the real thing.

I'm still amazed that some people dispute the fact it was faked... I'm a self confessed conspiracy theorist... and I've never had to debate this one... cos it would be too easy... most people simply accept it was faked :?
