I'm working off a Mac now and just wondering if its worth the purchase of the FLAC files. Never listen to music on the computer now. I'm just going to sync it to my ipod? Don't think itunes converts FLAC files. Any suggestion?

You can try FLACer to convert files to and from FLAC. It doesn't convert to mp3, just to WAV and AIFF and one other. It's easy to use and doesn't require much in the way of system resources.

I've used it for about the past year and haven't had any problems.

If you are just gonna sync to your ipod then it depends on the bit rate of mp3s.

If the bit rate of the mp3s is quite low (128, 192) then its worth getting the flac and converting to mp3 (to 320Kbps or 256Kbps) so you can have better sounding mp3s.

If the mp3s are already 256 or 320 kbps then no point getting the flac if you are just gonna listen on your ipod.

If space is an issue on your ipod then convert mp3s to 128, 160, or 192. You won't really hear a big difference vs. the higher bit rates especially while listening on your ipod out and about.

buy flac. backup flac on data cdr or data dvdr .. cause in the trading community, flac is the way to go. nobody trades mp3's. well some, but you won't get far. with that flac, you can do what you want. for personal use, encode it to mp3, wma, m4a etc.. there's freeware apps online for your itunes/mac apps.
