bats on stage

anyone know the significance of the batwings that are usually on stage during their live shows, they are usaually displayed or on top of an amp or something like that, been wondering if there is any story behind them?

    I believe the band "The Frogs" gave them as a gift.

    I haven't seen to bat wings lately either. I think I saw them at the '03 shows, but maybe I'm just thinking of Touring Band 2000.

    The bats was in Stockholm 2000, but non in Copenhagen 2007.

    I saw them at a show on the 08 tour as well... the bat wings better be at the Halloween show, that's all i know :D

    They were at the Wachovia 05 show in Philly.

    Ed put the hat that me and my friend gave him on top of them for most of the show before Mike wore it when the band took their final bows.

    2009...

    The wings were with Ed at the Baltimore solo show...I was so far from the stage in Chicago if there had been a swarm of bat wings, I wouldn't have known. I do not recall seeing them in Portland.
