Arriving in Philly at the airport. Whats the easiest way to get downtown to the Doubletree? I know once we're at the DT we can take the subway to the spectrum. What about to the hotel from the airport? If cab is easiest, how much do you think it'll cost?

  • You can call SEPTA, the region's rail line, for help. There is a train that can get you somewhat near the Doubletree, and then you can take the subway for the final haul. Cabs run about $30 from the airport to downtown.

Go to http://www.septa.com, their site is really easy to navigate. When you get to the main page, click on "Plan My Trip". From there they have clickable maps, and it will also give you easy pricing info for your trip. You'll also need to know the address of the hotel and see how close it is to the downtown train stations.

From the airport you'll be taking the R1, the Septa Regional Railroad line that connects the airport to Center City (aka downtown). Now I'm not 100 familiar with your hotel's location, but you can check that out on Mapquest or GoogleMaps (reference the Center City train station to the hotel's location - this will either be 30th Street Station, Suburban Station, or Market East Station, not sure which is closest to your hotel). If its close you can walk to the hotel, otherwise I'm sure its just a very short cab ride. Otherwise the Regional Railroad is cheap (I ride it everyday to work from the northern Philly burbs. Good luck!

Actually check that, the Hilton Doubletree is closest to Market East (my train station next to my workplace). From there it is probably like a 10 block walk (see Mapquest or a downtown map of Philly). If you don't have a lot of bags, and if the weather is decent, you could easily walk it, not too far. Otherwise you could grab a cab and they'd have you at the front door (from Market East) in less than 5 minutes. ;)

thanks for the great info. Looks like the RR fare is $6 each from the airport; and the closest stop to our hotel is just a 9 minute walk (16th and JFK) to the hotel.

    Thanks again!

Another handy resource: www.hopstop.com - type in your origin address and destination address, it gives you a transpo plan.

its not bad at all. You'll come up just outside city hall, then just go around city hall and up broad st about 4 blocks. The doubletree is a nice hotel and you can catch the subway down to the stadiums right outside it, theres also taxis, or after you get off the rail catch the broad st subway line going south 1 stop and that is walnut- locust, where the doubletree is.
