Did this eBay seller cheat me?

I purchased 2 tickets for the 10/28 show from eBay. They arrived today and are the kind you print from your computer and scan at the complex. However, they have a customer name printed on them and it states "Present at gate for validation, resale invalidates this ticket." Is this just for legal purposes or should I plan to be carded to see if I'm the customer whose name is on these tickets?

Hmmm... call the venue, and assume what they're telling you is accurate. That's the only safe thing I can think of.

I highly doubt they are going to ask everyone who enters the show for ID, but who knows. Also, how do they know you bought it as resale, someone could have bought it for you , given it to you , etc ,etc. You should check, but I would imagine you are OK.

Who knows if he cheated you... very possibly. You have to wonder how many of that ticket he printed out and sold.

    Good luck.

Yeah, I thought of that, too. But the seller had multiple sales/purchases on eBay with 100% rating. I can't imagine that Wachovia would ID thousands of people, either.

I doubt you will need ID, bc with the paperless tickets at the Bruce shows, they just wanted the credit card that was used to buy the tickets, though they state they would ask for a goverment issued ID.

As long as you paid via paypal WITH CREDIT CARD, you'll at least be able to get a refund if it turns out to be a duplicate.

With alot of shows these days there is a small % of seats that are paperless where you need the credit card and id of the person who purchased it, but with a run of the mill ticket I dont think that will be the case.

I guess there is always the possibility of someone printing and selling multiples of the same, but considering you bought it on Ebay I doubt anyone would be that foolish. Also, this person has a good track record on Ebay , that is a good thing.

Your good bro. Keep a positive mind and it will all work out. I still believe that most people are mostly honest. You get screwed less times than getting hooked up.
  • I'm sure your tickets are fine. I've bought tickets through TicketsNow.com (a TM subsidiary) and StubHub.com. Every time I've gotten printout tickets and they have the name of the original purchaser on them. When you order from TicketsNow, they even put a printout in the envelope saying not to worry someone else's name is on it.

I've never bought tickets from eBay, so I don't know how reliable those sellers are. They could have printed multiple copies of the ticket and sold them, but only one of them will work out the door. As for that, I HIGHLY doubt that is the case.

    Enjoy the show :)
  • I know 2 people that have been ripped off this way.
The seller prints out a bunch of tickets and sells all of them.
Only the first tickets to be scanned will work. After that...you're fucked.

I also agree. If they have good feedback you should have no problems. :) Enjoy the show for sure!
