Philly...getting there via train from Trenton (?)

edited October 2009 in The Porch
I know, I am sure this will be moved but I was hoping for some insight.

I am hoping to drive to Trenton (whether it be the Transit Center Station or the West Trenton Station...and travel to the venue from there.)

The SEPTA site is a piece of chit and the routes they give you are just plain retarded.

If anyone has made the trip or have any insight, it'd be greatly appreciated. I am not sure I want to try my luck on 95 at 6pm.

Thanks much, here's to being part of history :D

you can grab amtrack in trenton
that takes you to downtown philly
then grab SEPTA train to the spectrum

pretty easy actually although amtrack aint cheap
  • Considering the $15 parking and the overall hassle of it all, even $20 for Amtrak would be a treat. Do you know which station would be better for Amtrak? West Trenton or the Transit Center Station (SE of of the W Trenton).

I was kinda looking for a specific route, if anyone has done it, given the shitty timetable between the end of my real life day...and the show ;p

just go and check amtrack's website-it should be spelled out there
I have done it a few times, but I do not know trenton, so I cant really tell you where the station is

but if you need to comeback after the show, you may have an issue, I think the last train out of philly going back up to NJ/NYC is at midnight

and you will still need to either train or cab it to the spectrum once you get to philly

Drive to Princeton and take the train from there. That way, your car will be in one piece, and still there when you return back.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

That sounds like an idea. Thanks.

Check out NJ Transit from Trenton, it should run every 20 minutes or so and will take you right into Philly. Less expensive than Amtrak.

you could also drive down to mt laurel NJ and catch the greyhound (right off the turnpike) into philly
20 min bus ride-and the buses leave often
free parking and there are lots of reasonable hotels right near the bus stop-ive done this before and it is great for philly shows
much cheaper than staying in center city

$40 cab ride to and from Mt laurel/moorestown-sometimes a good call if you may have a drink or two

    just a thought

    1. take the riverline from trenton (south clinton ave rail station) into camden (walter rand transportation center on broadway)
    2. from the same station, take patco rail line into philly and get off at the 12th-13th and locust stop.
    3. walk to the walnut/locust stop of the broad street line and take it south to the stadium complex.

I guess I should have clarified that I'd be doing this back and forth, the same day. Last Riverline back to Trenton is at 9pm ;( Argh this is getting difficult ;p

And thanks to all for the suggestions :D
