Jonah Weiner is a complete idiot when it comes to music.
The only thing that made sense to me in this article is this sentence.

3 Doors Down don't belong in the same shitty category as the other bands that have been mentioned in this thread... IMO, while not great, they are pretty decent. Which is only my opinion, of course *ducks*

Same here. Shinedown came up the hard way playing lowly shitty bars in Jacksonville, FL before making it big. I can vouch for them cause I saw them quite a few times and met them a couple times too back in 2001/2002.

I agree- I saw them once way back before they became popular and they weren't bad- don't like them at all any more though

311 is great live. Only seen them in a festival setting though but still kick ass. I saw Creed at the same festival 10 years ago and 311 is a far better live band. Creed isn't that bad. Overrated definitely but I saw them when they had 2 hit songs (my own prison and Torn). But no 311 does not suck. I look forward to seeing a live show proper.
