Note: THIS IS NOT MY OPINION -- rather, it is the title of an article Jonah Weiner (the "Pearl Jam sells out" guy) published on Slate today. I am just throwing this out for your consumption/ dissection. Enjoy. Go wild.

  • Jonah Weiner is a complete idiot when it comes to music.
The only thing that made sense to me in this article is this sentence.

Quote:"Along with Limp Bizkit (who made fun of Creed, too), Stapp and Co. are remembered today as poster boys for a turn-of-the-century musical nightmare we're happily past."

Limp Bizkit + Creed = the 2 worst bands EVER!

I forgot about "Nickelback". And throw "3 Doors Down" into that shit pile also.

Limp Bizkit + Creed + Nickelback + 3 Doors Down = me wanting to cut my ears off.

i can't lump 3 doors down in there based on the stuff they have done for our troops overseas alone.

3 Doors Down don't belong in the same shitty category as the other bands that have been mentioned in this thread... IMO, while not great, they are pretty decent. Which is only my opinion, of course *ducks* ;)

Same here. Shinedown came up the hard way playing lowly shitty bars in Jacksonville, FL before making it big. I can vouch for them cause I saw them quite a few times and met them a couple times too back in 2001/2002.

I agree- I saw them once way back before they became popular and they weren't bad- don't like them at all any more though

That list of bands sounds like the play list for all the rock stations in Dallas :( Our radio is complete shit out here

The band that does "Let Me Be Myself"? You've got to be kidding.
  • Dont forget about 311
  • Dont forget about 311

Get the hell outa here 311 aint that bad, they've got some good songs and I hear they're good live. Know a guy who's seen them 63 times, they've got quite a dedicated fan base.
    Get over here!

311 is great live. Only seen them in a festival setting though but still kick ass. I saw Creed at the same festival 10 years ago and 311 is a far better live band. Creed isn't that bad. Overrated definitely but I saw them when they had 2 hit songs (my own prison and Torn). But no 311 does not suck. I look forward to seeing a live show proper.

  • The new cd Full Circle is actually very solid, in my OPINION. All hatred aside that many have, an objective listening may surprise you. And if not, just remember your OPINION on their music is only as valid as the next person's. I love PJ, old and new, appreciate all of their records, have seen them live 4 times (including twice in the same weekend), and consider them one of my favorite bands, but don't feel the need to justify my passion for their music or fight back to their critics. Similarly, I don't feel the need to justify it for Creed or any band that moves me. Some people think backspacer is a weak album from PJ, but I personally love it and I value it in a different way than I do their earlier material, which many of you may feel the same. My girlfriend loves it too, who I have converted into a PJ fan. I'm also pretty sure I'll have rocks thrown my way for my pro-Creed comment, but as a fellow hardcore PJ fan, I just don't care about anyone else's opinion about which bands "click" with me. To each his own. I like a lot of bands, and i dislike others, but who am I to judge? We all love PJ, we just don't all share the same criticism, negativity, and hatred of other bands.

Seriously not trying to stir trouble, just sharing my OPINION.
  • Some people like their music generic. That's just the way it is.
  • Some people think their opinion is a universal truth. Just the way it is.
  • I have no idea how this string went from Creed is a shit band, which they are, to 311 is a shit band? 311 isn't even CLOSE to the same genre or realm as Creed. Personally, I absolutely love 311 and their lives shows can be quite epic. Rotten apples and perfectly good oranges folks.

BTW: 311 day, every other year, is one of the greatest shows on earth and this is coming from a monster PJ fan. Oh yea, and 311 hate Creed as that tool singer of theirs got all drunken in their grill one time.
  • Some people think their opinion is a universal truth. Just the way it is.

Enjoy your Creed records. Meanwhile, there are a million other bands out there to listen to that don't make shitty nu-rock, and I will indulge in all of them.

I don't understand how anyone could listen to Creed or Bon Jovi with a straight face. I tend to forgive and ignore Pearl Jam's occasional "Jovi-ish" tendencies. Some people revel in it, and will complain and hate if Pearl Jam does anything "too creative". I just don't understand that state of mind. I hope I'm not alone.

Totally not alone.. Funny thing you said Bon Jovi! Dead or Alive is playing on my local Rock radio station right now!! YUCK!!!!!
