...is the better band: Soundgarden or Pearl Jam. Which songs does he enjoy playing more? Who does he think is the better singer/songwriter between Vedder and Cornell? I wonder...

    The real way to answer this is to determine how each band's fanbase stacks up against french fries.

    The answer is Pearl Jam. PJ is leaps and bounds better than Soundgarden. No comparison. He picked up the best job in the world when Jack Irons left.

    soundgarden put out much better albums with matt than pj did

    i have always thought that matt, while a good drummer, was always far better suited stylistically to soundgarden than pj. backspacer is the first album they've done with him that seemed remotely comfortable.

    i do like pearl jam better, but they are by no means "leaps and bounds" better than soundgarden. soundgarden was the shit.

    Soundgarden was allright.... they had some good songs and some that pretty much stunk. Superunknown is a damn good album. I liked it in the 90's. Can't really listen to it now. Black Hole Sun is a cool song but HIGHLY over rated. It had an awesome video and that helped make it so classic. But melodically... do you really wanna listen to it more than any pj song? Me neither.

    I'm sticking to my guns... leaps and bounds.

    Soundgarden = Good

    Pearl Jam = Great
  • he's definitely got a steadier pay check with PJ.

    i do agree with some of what you said. black hole sun is good definitely not great and i do usually want to hear pearl jam over soundgarden.

    but most of superunknown and badmotorfinger i still love and listen to now.

    to be honest, I think ALOT of it has to do with production. There are alot of great drum moments in the other albums. 1/2 full especially. The drumming there is amazing you just gotta listen more.

    Personally I think the best song for him is life wasted. That song has a perfect pj/soundgarden sound to it

  • Matt Cameron has alot more oppourtunities to write songs for Pearl Jam than he did with Soundgarden. Shit their first single is a Cameron song, so I think he's happier with Pearl Jam. Im sure he realizes like everyone else that Cornels the techincally better vocalists, no idea if he prefers eddies bairtone style to Cornel though.
