Looking to stay Friday and Saturday, and think that I may have missed the boat on this one already. Any suggestions or help for me besides to book earlier next time haha.

You didnt' miss the boat, but you missed the great deals. I did too. I got my room a few days ago (Tuesday or Wednesday). Had to pay $90 per night for Fri-Sun for a 3 star. Got the doubletree. Was bidding for days and $90 was the minimum, unless inventory has changed since I bid. Still a great deal though...

  • Hi, I would try bidding $75 for a 3.5 star hotel in mid city Philly. Keep doing this daily - early am works best - at least in my case. By Tuesday there may be cancellations on cards or folks unable to attend. I found if you sound serious and bid reasonably, they will try to accomodate you even if it's a little higher price. I would suggest getting a bid in before the Phillies game is over tonight. Good luck and hope that helps. J

What do you mean by that? How can you "sound" serious on Priceline? They don't "try to accomodate" anyone ... there is a minimum price that a hotel within your parameters is willing to accept for a room and if you hit or exceed that price, you get a room for whatever you bid.

That said, your other point is a valid one, you can grab some sweet deals at the last minute on PL. But, as you also mentioned, there is a BIG RISK associated with that. A friend of mine found that out the hard way for the MSG shows back in 2008 and couldn't get anything on Priceline a few days before, so that's the downside.

  • I was basing my reply on my experience using them for past trips I have made and getting 4 star accomodations for a reasonable amount. By serious I meant making a reasonable offer, not $30 for the Four Seasons and being persistent in bidding each day, which I am sure they got or would have asked what I meant. Why you felt the need to comment on what worked for me, Beer Baron,I have no idea. I was simply trying to be helpful. If you have an issue with what I said, I will be happy to discuss it in a pm.
