Wow. F**k! This shit is robust.

Matt's drumming (on SOLAT especially) is superb.

Why thank you; I'm in need of a little praise currently!

My nick was chosen very carefully (back in 2000).

Leathermosquitoman - you know I'm actually quite glad I wasn't at this show, but instead sitting quiet and warm on the other side of the Atlantic; I'm not sure I would have made it back.

The bootleg is so intense I'm having to break it back down into bite-size pieces - one or two songs (having done the full 2 hours a few days ago).

Maybe it's just me, but these are the best versions of Red Mosquito, SOLAT, and even Black that I have ever heard. It's not the flawlesness, but the emotion and the honesty. It's like they are removing a slightly murky screen and letting the true song shine through.

The last 6 songs, (with the talking as well) are fucking devastating, and underline just how important this band are to this time, in this era, right here right now. The fidelity of the bootleg is fantastic mainly (once it warms up). Tremor Christ often sounds quite tinny and light, but here it is full-on expansive, warm, pounding, rich, thunderous, with a sound that finally does justice to the voice and words (It would have been nice to have the first verse as well, but sacrifices have to be made somewhere!!:))

In parts the band is so fucking tight it is unreal. I think it's Porch and in some of the other extended bits where the guitar, drum and bass interaction is second to none. It's more like dialgoue than jamming. (Sorry, I'm pretentious..... so sue me)

Drumming is not something I take much notice of generally, I really rate Bonham, Keith Moon and Lars Ulrich because I feel they punctuate and underline the vocals and the melody, and so stand out to me, definitely adding to the tune rather than just keeping time.

This is what Matt seems to be doing throughout this show. He is fucking on fire. These guys are a crack unit now and this current phase is without a doubt the best I have ever heard the band. Every song selection is bang on the money. I think the new album may well come to stand as their best ever (once we give it time to settle and sink in), and they are totally leading the Zeitgeist. This is seriously good stuff. The music and the message, the music and the message. We are here to hear it!

tremors, very nice way of laying it all down describing the show. This is interesting since you weren't even there.
p.s. Don't pay any attention to LeatherMosquitoMan as he just likes to take delight from the fact that I wasn't there to see it as he knows my undying obsession with TC. :D

    Thanks SOLAT319,

Over my life I have never put much too stock in the truth coming from my eyes, so having been at the show or not is not such a big issue for me. It's interesting how the mix in this bootleg almost totally hides the audience reactions and interactions though. So I didn't get much sense of the atmosphere going on there, but get a very clear vision of the band. Maybe that's why the sound quality / acoustics on the boot seem much better than usual. I've been listening to the 'Hunger Strike' L.A. show recently and the sound quality there seems weaker, but there is a much greater sense of the audience. Now I think that show I would have liked to have been at!! I've been getting goosebumps and hairs standing up on the back of my neck for the past two days every time I think of the reaction to those magic words 'Chris Cornell....!'. Those 4 songs were brilliant actually, a pivotal event in PJ's history?

So no, I don't trust my eyes that much. At S.B.E. 2009, watching the youtube vids that are filmed close up Ed appears pretty unfit, wooden and quite static, whereas, having been there myself, further back, but with great sound reaching me I can assure you that the exact opposite is actually true. I just think Ed's focal point is a lot further away from his image now! Our dude is tough like a cedar - he sways under heavy wind!

It's always been my ears which are my most accurately calibrated device. Image is transient; I've witnessed and touched things both real and unreal which would greatly upset Newton or Dawkins, and some of these images have burned my spirit. My ears are a much clearer glass, unbroken; my compass - I just have to sometimes come back and calibrate off those fucking mookie blaylock guys! hehehe

    Thanks SOLAT

    Peace, See ya
