What do you call it when...?

Hey what is it called when Ed sings some random noises and has the crowd sing it back to him. He'll usually do this during Daughter like on the ACL boot. I know other bands do this too, but is there a specific word for it?

    Musically the style is reffered to as scat singing. It's commonly used in jazz and blues and is when the vocalist uses syllables (or even just sounds, like mimicking an instrument) in lieu of actual words to improvise a melody. But yeah, it's also call and response.

    So since this tends to happen mostly during "Daughter" would it be considered a "tag?" BTW, my favorite occurance of the Call and Response is from the 2000 Milan, Italy show, check it out if you can.

    PJ fans are pretty good at it, but the Rush In Rio DVD features 100,000 rabid fans in a huge Brazilian soccer stadium singing along to La Villa Strangiato ... an instrumental. Chilling!

    I would imagine it's much better in soccer-centric markets .. ie Europe!
