...but that means I had to leave my signed EV poster in their hands. This is my first framing experience, so I'm a little nervous.

It's actually closer to 240. The framer who works there is usually pretty good about helping you select mattes that work with the poster. I had four done earlier in the year and have nothing but good things to say about the price and the quality at Michaels.
When I had mine done, the standard black frame + double matte with 60% discount came to about $97 each.

I have heard the exact same thing. They will try and up the price just so their 60% coupon seems like a great deal. Support your local framer(s) who specialize and take pride in their work.
well....if the $97 price referenced above is accurate it is far cheaper than a local framer will be.
I might try them (Michael's) with some of my movie posters I own. It gives me an opportunity to see their work, without the worries I would have taking in some of my concert posters. Where can one find the 60% coupon at? Sunday paper?
And it wasn't a coupon- it's a sale going on (it may end today- not sure).
About the 4 colors thing... not sure about that. I had tons of matting options available and tons of frames in the store.
Did they let you know approximately how long it would take for your poster to be done? The one drawback with my local guy here is that in the past it has taken over a month for him to finish my order (one poster). I might take in some prints to be framed at Michaels for Christmas gifts.
They said I'd have it by Dec. 13.
I've always wanted to go in and get a quote on a normal day, and then go back during the 50 or 60% off sale and see if they're actually taking that much off...

They showed the normal price of each piece of the frame (the mats, the glass, etc.). They definitely took 60% off each piece, although I'm sure on a regular, non-sale day it's overpriced.
It may be a lot, but it's my Christmas present to me, and I've been wanting to do it since April. My husband and I are both students, so it's hard to spend this much on something that's (arguably) not a necessity. But I'm excited for it!
i was scared of this also w. my chicago, i ended up taking it in to pick everything out then holding onto the poster myself until everything came in and then brought it back to the store.....was pretty happy with the results, as well as the cost.....

I got my Hartford poster framed there, it was about 60 bucks cuz my mom is the manager there. But she paid for it so it was really free.
