I think Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, and Soundgarden should all tour together.. gives us Temple of the Dog too.

I'd pay good money (and a lot) for this show.. 5 hour set?

Who opens? discuss!

Well if we are being stupid and dreamy then.

TOTD album in full to open.

Then each of them play all their songs from every album (chronologically).

Don't hate me, but I can't get into AIC and Soundgarden, no matter how hard I try, and believe me, I've tried. A lot. I think it probably has to do with me not being alive/being an infant when they were making records. That's not to say I don't like them at all, but I would much rather have a full on Pearl Jam show, with what Brisk said, every song chronologically.

Again, please don't hate me :|

    Here's mine...
Chris Cornell opening for Pearl Jam.
Chris does his regular set with his regular band... his shows are pretty good and let's keep his bandmates employed. His usual 'Soundgarden' songs are grouped together at the end of his set and Matt (who is already there) joins Kim and Ben for a mini-reunion. They close out with something like 'Jesus Christ Pose' or 'Slaves & Bulldozers'.
Pearl Jam does their regular set and breaks. When they come back... they come back as 'Temple of the Dog' and devote that entire set to 'Temple Of The Dog' songs. Pearl Jam's final set is all pearl Jam except for the last 2 songs... 'All Along The Watch Tower' and 'Rockin' in The Free World' with Chris and Kim.

  • I would also like to propose that Mike grab the new Layne Staley dude, one of the drummers, and Ed (for the Mark Lanegan bit) to perform the Mad Season record. That could be one of the early pre-set acts since this is basically turning into an all day festival rather than just a 'show'.

    I endorse this ideas well..

Bring in the Foo Fighters, Kris Noveselic and the other person from Nirvana and have everyone share vocals on some Nirvana songs?

    An early 90s Grunge Tour!

Could be the most successful tour in history!

Would be just brilliant wouldn't it! A "grunge" type festival with even more bands added who could play for about an hour each, eg Jane's Addiction, Smashing Pumpkins with PJ headlining of course. The concert of the century!

PJ would definitely head line since they are the last fully surviving band from the Era...AIC don't count without Layne Staley.

i say get someone who sounds like Andy Wood (not Axel Rose) and do an MLB reunion...green river reunion...the whole kit and kaboodle....it would have to be a 2 or 3 day festival due to the fact that some members of different bands played with some of the other bands as well and they deserve their rest...especially Matt

Hmmm. If you have Foo Fighters (including Dave Grohl, the drummer of Nirvana) and Kris Noveselic, it's going to be tough to get the "other" person from Nirvana...

I think they're referring to Pat Smear as the "other guy", since they suggested having the vocals shared amongst the other singers...

Agreed that age doesn't matter. I'm 35 and never loved AIC or Soundgarden. I tried as well, and of course I like some of their stuff, just not a fan in general.

    WOW are those great records

I don't know, I just don't care for Layne and Chris's voices a ton, and I tend to go for the less grunge-influenced PJ sound anyway.

I'm actually with you on that, I HATE alice in chains, i was also a baby when those grunge bands such as AIC, SG etc were making records but i just hate AIC and can't get into Soundgarden i've really tried to get into Soundgarden too.
I do however love Nirvana to death, actually I used to listen to them alot more than PJ haha but now I of course listen to PJ way more since they're my favorite band.
And I also agree on preferring the less grunge-influenced sound.

Wow, some of these posts make me feel old at 32!!! I think I understand why some PJ fans can't get in to AIC or SG. It's because the 3 bands do not sound similar in the slightest bit. And Nirvana didn't sound anything like any of those 3. They got lumped together due to some collaborations, but, mostly, because they were from the same city. IMO, AIC & SG are borderline metal bands.
I'm on the same page with you guys as far as preferring the "less-grunge-influenced" PJ sound. It's evolution, baby, if they sounded like it was 1992 still I for one would NOT be listening to and loving Backspacer!
