your favorite albums this year

i'd have to say, in no particular order, off the top of my head 2 are
Dinosaur Jr. - Farm
Flaming Lips - Embryonic
honorable mentions would be 'The Hunchback EP' by Kurt Vile & the Violators or Kurt Vile's debut album, 'Constant Hitmaker' (didn't think his 2nd full length solo album was as good as when i saw him live with the Violators a month or so ago, i mean just compare the song 'The Hunchback' from the EP with his 2nd solo album, the EP is far superior)
i can't really can't seem to get into Backspacer, in fact i still haven't bought it yet. even seeing them play some of the songs twice it doesn't do it for me.

don't compete; coexist
what are you but my reflection? who am i to judge or strike you down?
"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama
when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'

2. The Dead Weather
3. Amanda Palmer, though she may have been last year
Does the remastered Billy Ocean Super Duper Deluxe ReReRemastered Box Set count? If so Backspacer is in trouble.
Some others....
Dino jr -Farm
Doves- Kingdom of Rust
Silversun Pickups- Swoon
Backspacer
Soundtrack of Our Lives- Communion
I'm sure there are others. This has been my favorite year for music in a long time.
2. U2........Line On The Horizon
3. State Radio....Let It Go
4. SOJA.......Born In Babylon
5. Ben Harper & R7.....White Lies For Dark Times
BACKSPACER....is on the backburner for now, it has taken awhile to get into this album
Peace
*MUSIC IS the expression of EMOTION.....and that POLITICS IS merely the DECOY of PERCEPTION*
.....song_Music & Politics....Michael Franti
*The scientists of today think deeply instead of clearly. One must be sane to think clearly, but one can think deeply and be quite INSANE*....Nikola Tesla(a man who shaped our world of electricity with his futuristic inventions)
Black Crows: Before the frost until the freeze
Arctic Monkeys: Humbug ( was a nice surprise for me )
Built to Spill: There is no enemy
Pearl Jam : Backspacer
Black Crowes-Before the Frost/Until the Freeze
Pearl Jam-Backspacer
Mastodon-Crack the Skye
AIC-Black Gives Way To Blue
Metric - Fantasies
Monsters of Folk - S/T
Pearl Jam - Backspacer
This is my list too except swap AIC for Ben Harper & the Relentless 7 - White Lies for Dark Times.
Not that I don't like the new AIC, just haven't had the time to absorb it yet. But it is certainly good.
The Strange boys: And Girls Club
Karl Blau
Kurt Vile
Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson
Dinosaur Jr.
Grizzly Bear
Hopewell
Entrance Band
Girls
Cave Singers
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Reigning Sound
Animal Collective
Pink Mountaintops
Islands
Yo La Tengo
haven't heard the Flaming Lips yet and a new Devendra album is coming out in 2 weeks
It'snot going to be an easy year for top ten lists
I would absolutely recommend The Black Crowes, and Ben Harper. It's Blitz is good, but personally the others hit a certain chord with me.

SMELL YER MA!
Soulsavers - Broken

Dan Auerbach - Keep it Hid
The rest of my top ten would look like this:
3. Pearl Jam - Backspacer
4. Masters of Reality - Pine/Cross Dover
5. Black Crowes - Before the Frost...Until the Freeze
6. Rodrigo y Gabriela - 11:11
7. Sonic Youth - The Eternal
8. Dead Weather - Horehound
9. Cracker - Sunrise in the Land of Milk and Honey
10. Son Volt - American Central Dust
I've only had Living Colour's new album for a few days but it may well be in the top 10 soon. If I'd written this a few weeks ago Black Gives Way To Blue would be in there but the more I listen to it the less I like it.
(Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

Most underated album on my list i think is the roman candle album. It gets not pub (probably because pitchfork did not review it) but is a wonderful album. Give it a try if you like alt country type of music.

Still spinning Built To Spill & eagerly awaiting Tegan & Sara, that about covers 2009 for me
See These Bones
I've heard that Rammsteins new music video is basically like a porno starring the band - can anyone confirm this? Not sure if I want to watch it for myself... :?

Alice In Chains _ Black Gives Way To Blue

Each has it's own unique beauty and each offers something different. I could happily put all three back-to-back and play on random for about seven weeks.
Pearl Jam - Ten re-issue (redux)
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
Black Gives Way to Blue - Alice in Chains
God & Guns - Lynyrd Skynyrd
* Sonic Boom by KISS ain't half bad for a glam rock album. I saw KISS last night in Pensacola. Pretty fun concert.
Gibson Amphitheatre (Los Angeles): 10/7/09
