Are you sure it was UK? Didn't he say he wrote it in NYC recently?

Yeah I'm positive! It was before the show started there was a group of us listening to him do his soundcheck before they opened the doors.

At his solo gig in Newark last year, he said he wrote the song the night before in NYC and he debuted it and he said something to the extent that it was like a piece of fruit that isn't just ripe yet but he wanted to play in anyways.

It could have been in the works for a long time, but didn't come together until after the NYC show.

  • He debuted it at NJPAC in Newark,NJ on August 7th, 2008. He said he had stayed up all night drinking, and wrote it in his hotel room. He did indeed refer to it as "unripened fruit". It was amazing to hear it for the very first time that night, and I listen to it often. It's amazing how it's almost exactly the same as it is on Backspacer. ;) What a special night that was...
  • yea dude there was a video of up of it for a while before it was announced to be on the album. i was in love with that song after he played it in dc, glad it made the album.
