Apple Butter

So my 7 yr old son LOVES apple butter...eats it every morning for breakfast before going to school. So this morning he's making his toast while I've got Backspacer on the stereo and he says...Hey mom, you know what I love more than apple butter? No, what says I. Pearl Jam.

I'm pretty sure it is natural food, unlike mostly everything else we eat. It tends to come from farmers markets and the like. It's something for them to make with all the extra apples (or peaches, etc.).
If you want to rip on American food, go over to one of the cheese steak threads where someone says to get "whiz" on their steak - now that is one fake food item.

Doesn't appear to be that unnatural to me.

Then again, if you are from Greece, you really do have the best food on earth. And by all accounts, the healthiest diet too!
gotta get to the VA mountains and
get me some!
thanks for the reminder.
cute story too.
gives us southern pj fans a bad name on the board.
i'm confused. why is it called, apple butter. where does the word butter come in or used? :?
this is butter, right?
we don't call it dairy butter. we call it butter.
chocolate butter: http://coffeetea.about.com/od/miscchoco ... butter.htm
Ingredients: * 1/2 cup butter, softened * 2 tbs sugar * 2 tbs cocoa powder
so is apple butter using .. dairy butter?
i'm so confused, but so hungry!

Its called butter because its thick. Peanut butter is butter free also. Those colonials weren't very inventive with their vocabulary i guess.
Hey, you forgot Lemon Butter. Very important, utterly delicious!
I grew up in upstate NY not far from NY apple country and never heard of it. Moved to Northern CA and it's all they talk about come fall!
Then the only explanation is that it's a cult.
