    Im just curious do any of you have kids ? and if so how many ? and how should or how do you discipline them when they act up,talk back,disrespect you,or become unruly.

    This guy is a twisted fuck .... and his wife is no better .... no man would lay a hand on any child of mine,father or no father .... but what sickens me is that the "nanny" sat and watched this and the crew filmed it.

    I work in social services and if I witnessed ANYTHING even close to that shit I would have clear grounds for removing those kids from the family home.

    Yes of course children need boundaries but it is not right to slap ANYONE on the mouth,call them bitches and hit them with a belt.
    This guy is a twisted bully and if he tried any of that shit on an adult outside his home he would be charged ... yet for "informative entertainment" it is allowed on t.v.?

    I guess the only light is that I assume they contacted "nanny" who comes in to try and help them sort out their family issues.Fuck I hope it worked!

    So all of you are against a little smack or belt on the backside?
    Me and my siblings copped the belt and smack as kids when we were misbehaving.
    We turned out fine and respect our parents.

    Sure the guy is out of line calling the girls bitches and giving forecful smacks to the faces but if the kids are not behaving and acting like brats then a smack or belt on the backside is fine.

    I have 4 (3 girls and 1 boy). I never laid a finger on them. I always felt the best way to deal with unruly behaviour was to take away things they enjoyed, sent to bed early, no going to parties etc.

    That guy is a dinosaur. I feel sorry for anyone withing 200 yards of him. You could almost see his brains hanging out of his ass. No doubt his kids will beat the shit out of theirs one day.

    Can't understand why anyone would want to spend the evening watching this shit in the first place.

    When I pierced my ear when I was about 15, my father belted me in the stomach. Hit on occasion other times. Threatened me with military school (which he was probably close to making me go to). I've seen the bad side of this.

    While I won't do that to my child, if my young one is playing with a screwdriver in an electrical socket, or something of similar severity, a light bop on the butt isn't the worst thing. My intention would not be to give any pain at all... just a strong sign of disapproval. What that guy was doing is abusive.

    What is the difference between hitting a child on the bottom (a spank) or hitting a child on the face (a slap)? Hitting is hitting, wherever the hand lands. The initial intention is the same. An adult hitting a child, conveying their 'message' via brute force is wrong - these are just bullying tactics. There are NUMEROUS ways to enforce discipline and ensure the child knows his/her boundaries. Naturally, these other ways mean a lot more thought and time has to go into this kind of positive parenting.

    Note: I didn't even want to watch that video.

    But it IS negative... for various reasons:

    It gives the children the wrong example- you hit your kid, your kid will hit out when his lil' friends (or others) who don't 'behave' in the way your child wants them to. After all, "Daddy/Mommy hit me when I don't do what they say, so it must be the right thing to do!" KIDS LEARN FROM EXAMPLE!

    Young ones will not automatically associate the physical punishment with their behaviour - it can make them a lot angrier and resentful as they do not understand. A loving hand which all of a sudden gives them pain.... Removing, distracting, quiet time/safe area, explaining, praise when due... all much better!

    One also needs to remember that an adult is 'big and strong'. What may seem a 'bop' to you can be much harder for a child.

    Spanking/hitting is just not effective. You are not teaching your kid anything of value. You can't beat discipline into a kid. If you do something wrong at work, do you get hit by your boss into doing stuff right or do you get things explained to you? Even VERY young children 'understand'.
