going to 1 tomorrow, it should be interesting.

Since our founding in 1989, Partners for Peace has sought to educate the American public about key issues in the effort to secure peace and justice among Palestinians and Israelis.
Our major projects include the Jerusalem Women Speak: Three Women, Three Faiths, One shared Vision speaking tours; highlighting the nonviolent efforts of Palestinians, Israelis, and citizens of other nations to end the occupation of Palestinian territories; and in-depth advocacy with the media.
Partners for Peace strongly advocates a connection between means and ends. We think that for the good of both Palestinians and Israelis the occupation should end, but believe this goal is best advanced by nonviolence rather than attacks on civilians. Attacks on Israeli or Palestinian civilians warrant criticism and do significant damage to advancing substantive peacemaking.
We bring to American audiences and the media the voices that often go unheard. We bring the voices of Palestinian and Israeli women seeking a just peace and a brighter future for their children, their communities and their societies.

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama

Let's just breathe...
I am myself like you somehow
the arab christian is from Bethlethem and was a teacher there with a BA from the University of Jordan. she spoke about the curfews Israel would impose on them and how several schools ended up being shut down and they would be prisoners in their homes until Israel decided to lift it. she also spoke about how hard it is to get the papers to travel from different areas, how the majority of men from 16-i forgot what age would be denied work visas and the way access is limited so the jewish lady who spoke would not be allowed to visit her home if she wanted and she isn't allowed to visit the jewish woman's home. or how her sister has lived in germany for 12 years and married a german. a year ago they flew into Israel's airport but the sister was detained then put back on a plane and sent back to germany because even though she has german citizenship now she is still a palestinian and therefor not allowed to be there. she also spoke of the palesitinians only use 20% of the water supply, the other 80% is used by the Israeli's and they only now let concrete and metal into her area and that is only to fix the collapsed sewage system. they had tried to get the supplies before but the Israeli's refused until it started leaking into jewish only settlements.
the jewish woman spoke about how when they first started occupying land, other than the green line, she was sure they would not stay but how sad it made her to see them take more and more land and the abusrdity of the checkpoints and how the wall is not even built on Israeli land and they tore down thousands and thousands of Palestinian olive trees to build the wall, which is actually against the jewish religion. she spoke of the absurd things Israel has banned from entering the Palestinians like asparagus and some other foods, too
most of the questions were asked by pro-Israeli people. questions like all he heard was them talk about the bad things Israel is doing but not what the Palestinians are doing so they are biased, a jew is afraid because of the arabs to visit Israel or other holy sites in Egypt and elsewhere so he won't trust them because they are preventing him from these visits, why should Israel give up anything? what are the Palestinians willing to give up in exchange for peace? it seems like all they want to do is demand of Israel....
the answers were the obvious: 1 is backed by a super power and has the world's 4th largest army, the other side is pretty much on their own. to the question of what are the Palestinians willing to give up the arab christian seemed offended and asked what else do they have to give up? they have already had most of their land taken and their way of life destroyed
about the arabs preventing him from visiting both respectfully told him the only person stopping him from visiting is himself and his irrational fear and offered to be a guide for him and help him get around the area if he came but he left before the end so obviously no contact info was shared.
someone asked why should they trust the Palestinians to make peace when they refuse to ever even acknowledge Israel or their right to be life and just want to push them into the sea? they brought up, i forgot what peace plan it was part of, but the Palestinians offered to acknowledge Israel as a country and that is more of a step than Israel has made since they seem against a 2 state solution.
i could hear 2 ladies a little behind me making comments the whole time either lady was speaking and after the jewish lady spoke the one said muttered she had some questions for her and they mumbled about how they were going to make her look stupid but neither 1 of them raised their hand when it was time for questions and ended up leaving before the q&a part was over
