I've been drug to my share of DMB concerts, and if he plays the same city multiple nights, he will only repeat about 2 songs. So while I am not a huge DMB fan, I do respect his set lists. I wish PJ would step it up! They could do this in Philly and only repeat "the fixer" and "got some". Although that is just equaling DMB, I say no repeats!

I guess it is easy to not repeat songs when you jam every one out for 20 extra minutes, and you only play 7 songs a night! :-D It gets really annoying. Get to the next song already!
  • Definitely DMB. I have seen them about 45 times and it is always extremely different. Was at the 4 nights at Red Rocks in 2005 and there were I think 4 songs that were played more than once over the course of the weekend. Granted, like Pearl Jam, they will play the new songs more often when promoting new albums, but that is to be expected.

Phish will change their sets up a lot. You could go to three consecutive Phish concerts and not hear any repeated songs. Of course, hearing the same song more than once at one Phish show is also a possibility as they go from one song into another and sometimes back to the first song as part of the jam.

Phish is about the best band on the planet for mixing up sets ... Everything NeilJam said is correct ... Like PJ, they bust out rarities on a regular basis (although I'd say Phish does this more ... In 2003, they played Pittsburg and the ENTIRE SET was rarities and odd songs that do not see the light of day much). Also the best band if you really enjoy hearing the same song played a different way each time. Even the songs that aren't jammed out on a regular basis (e.g., Sample In A Jar) sound different from version to version, depending on what kind of night the band is having. And I don't mean sloppy ... I mean different. Needless to say, I love Phish. Their music is not for everyone, but if you like psychadelic rock, funk, bluegrass, jazz, and just plain old classic rock (with the odd punk or metal or prog elements thrown into the mix), check them out. I'd just jump right into the live shows rather than worrying too much about the albums.
