No Surprise here.....how can there be peace when both sides do not hold their own people accountable? isreal blames hamas and hamas blames isreal. they fail to see that they BOTH are the problem. if each side polices its own people and punishes them when they break international law then the peace process may truely begin...

JERUSALEM - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday vowed never to allow Israeli leaders or soldiers to stand trial for war crimes over their actions during last winter's military offensive in the Gaza Strip, furiously denouncing a recent U.N. report in a keynote address to parliament.
Netanyahu's fiery rhetoric — and his decision to open the high-profile speech with remarks on the U.N. report — reflected the deep distress felt among Israeli leaders after a U.N. commission accused Israel of intentionally harming civilians when it launched a massive attack in Gaza to stop years of rocket fire.
"This distorted report, written by this distorted committee, undermines Israel's right to defend itself. This report encourages terrorism and threatens peace," Netanyahu said in his address at the opening of parliament's winter session. "Israel will not take risks for peace if it can't defend itself."
The U.N. report, compiled by a team led by former war crimes prosecutor Richard Goldstone, accused Israel of using disproportionate force, deliberately targeting civilians and destroying civilian infrastructure during a three-week offensive against Hamas militants last winter. The report also accused Hamas of war crimes by deliberately targeting civilians and trying to spread terror with rocket attacks.
Israeli officials across the board have condemned the report, saying the operation came in response to years of Hamas rocket attacks. They also blame Hamas for civilian casualties, saying the Islamic militant group took cover in residential areas during the fighting.
Netanyahu angrily noted the report's portrayal of Israeli leaders as war criminals. "The truth is exactly the opposite. Israel's leaders and its army are those who defended the citizens of Israel from war criminals," he said, before vowing to defend the country's wartime leaders.
"We will not allow Ehud Olmert, Tzipi Livni and Ehud Barak, who sent our sons to war, to arrive at the international court in the Hague," he said.
While Netanyahu has repeatedly lashed out at the U.N. report, Monday's comments appeared to be a direct response to a new Palestinian push for a vote on the report in the U.N.'s Human Rights Commission. If the vote takes place, the matter could be referred to higher U.N. bodies that could theoretically push for war crimes prosecution.

"I will promise you this, that if we have not gotten our troops out by the time I am president, it is the first thing I will do. I will get our troops home. We will bring an end to this war. You can take that to the bank." - Barack Obama
when you told me 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em'
i was thinkin 'death before dishonor'
dumbass.
no one is saying israel doesn't have the right to defend itself. just saying israel doesn't have the right to defend itself with force in occupied territories.
"Well, you tell him that I don't talk to suckas."
Now that we have successfully moved past Hamas (by this point, if you are not able to see why I am right then you should probably stop reading because you have fallen behind), we can move on to Israel. Israel is a terror rogue nation that has done nothing but terrorize and harass Palestinians, Lebanese, Syrians, and Arabs in general. And its complete disregard for international law has been an insult to the entire world who has sat by and watched a 60+ year onslaught and injustice occur and do nothing about it. So its time we drop the bullshit and force Israel to stop its destructive path. The Israeli administration clearly does not see that the way it is headed is destructive, and neither does our own administration, sadly enough. It is because we have lost all sway, it seems, in this issue. Congress is OVERWHELMINGLY pro-Israel and it is absolutely disgusting (if you saw what happened during the massacre in Gaza, you'd know what I'm talking about. I can count on one hand the amount of Congressmen who supported the Palestinians' cause that month. Even the fierce Ted Kennedy has been 100% pro-AIPAC). It's time we start taking this issue more into consideration and forcing our elected officials to do the same. If Israel were to stop terrorizing and occupying, the entire situation in the world would be different. When someone like Osama Bin Laden talks about how important this issue is, he's doing it just because it is an issue to all Arabs and Muslims (which now number 1.57 billion) in the world. He's not demanding that Israel be given to govern by him so that it can be used as a terrorist state for him, he's saying it the people from there (Palestinians) should be rightfully restored their homes and values. Many other people in all different corners of the world say the same thing. So if Western officials (such as European officials who know that the Palestinians have a just cause) can see this. And Even the crazy Osama Bin Laden can see this, why can't the motherfucking Americans? what is it that makes us so stupid? I don't know what it is yet, but it's time we remember our balls and get our heads out of our asses because if this issue were solved, the world would be an entirely different place and people with causes like Osama Bin Laden will lose so much support.
