i swear they take more pride in us losing than them winning.

i actually wanted boston to beat the angels as i think the yanks would have a much easier time beating boston than la. it was pretty sweet to see that jackass blow the game though. no riverdance for papelbum today!!!!

    Well said. Bravo
well Theo failed to make the right pitching moves during the off season and before the trading deadline

Lowell and Pappy aint what they used to be
you cant win a series with one reliable pitcher and an inconsistent pen
doesnt take a genius to see that
and even this sox fan will admit that giradi did a great job pulling that overpriced team together after the all star break
  • Well, some of us are not so happy with the outcome. But the fact is, the Angels are a better team of baseballers than the 09 Sox, and apparently they're hungrier (and I say that as a lifelong Sox fan... surrounded by Yankees fans).

I think this thread is okay on this forum because:
    1. It's about baseball
    2. Baseball is as American as rock and roll
    3. Pearl Jam is the greatest American rock band of all time
    4. The general manager of the Red Sox is a Pearl Jam fan
    5. I forget the fifth reason, but it was a good one....

See you all at the PJ show in Fenway Park.

Giradi? Or Girardi? He's been consistently criticized for his decisions, including, most recently, replacing his likely future hall of fame catcher (Posada) for a much weaker bat in Molina. I'd hardly be signing his praises. Even if the Yanks are lucky enough to get past the Twins, they will lose to the Angels.

He did that because Burnett pitches much better with Molina behind the plate, and indeed, he threw a good game. So it worked.

    nit picker

most recently, he rested his surgically repaired future hall of fame catcher when he needed it-and burnett prefers molina
of course he has been criticized-he is the Yankee skipper-they could go undefeated and Yankee fans would find something to criticize

but you cant argue results, and that team did play very well the second half of the season, going from 7 games back to handily winning the division
of course, yankee fans always want more

I'm always amazed at how jaded Yankees fans are - if the call down the third base line on Friday would have been reversed, the Yankees would be screaming for a Congressional Inquiry!!! They are LUCKY to have won that game.

no yankees fan will ever say that was a good call but the fact of the matter was, the twins had the bases loaded with no outs and couldnt get a run across.

there are still Yankee fan's that won't admit it was a horrible call and would have scored a run with the back-to-back singles that followed! and the truly funny part is that they walk around with their chest stuck out like "look at how good we are..." which is hilarious - aren't you SUPPOSED to beat the "lowly" Twins???
  • Please. that call didnt win us the game. ARODS and TEXS HRS won the game. Stop looking for any excuse to downplay a Yankee win. We are back!!!!!!!!!!

i have yet to come across a yankees fan that claims they made the right call on that. who knows how the inning would have played out if cuzzi made the right call but you cant assume the back to back singles would have happened.

yes, the yankees should beat the twins and no yankees fan will be satisfied if they beat the twins and lose to the angels but it has been a while(in yankees years) since the yankees have been in this position so you have to assume we are pretty damn excited.

It feels ok knowing we won in 96,98,99,00. Also beating Boston in 2003 in game 7 was awesome.

Yeah, too bad you're Yankees choked and lost 4 straight in the ALCS to the Sox in 04. Without a doubt the biggest choke job in sports history.

Not a Sox fan, but you're right, that will forever be the definition of choking it away.

Crosby's a bitch, Talbot won them the Stanley Cup... Even Malkin put in a better performance than crosby. Yet what do they show for the first 5 minutes solid after the pens win the cup. Crosby skating around with the cup.

I don't even hate that the pens won it, what I hate is the press gives Crosby all the attention, when I think it was his teammates that won the cup (and Lidstrom's broken testacle.. poor guy).

Hey, I was just reminiscing the past as was THEBIBLEISTEN. No worries though, the future looks grim for the Yankees. I see them choking to the Dodgers. That is if they can beat the Angels.

Thats a little history lesson. Now lets get to the present, Suxs get swept and the yankees are in the ALCS. AROD is hitting....that means trouble.
