Having had Backspacer for almost a week now, I think it is a very difficult thing deciding which is your favourite track because they're all so good! Thank you Pearl Jam for the great music that makes life a lttle more appreciable! Cannot wait to see them in Australia-will be travelling from South Africa! Rock on....

Changes often. First it was Just Breathe, then Gonna See My Friend, then Unthought Known, now maybe Amongst the Waves. And Got Some has always been up there for me too.

This might call for another game of Survivor - Backspacer style. :D

  • You have to quantify it anytime you are ranking Pearl Jam songs on an album - slow tempo and fast tempo - usually this is easier not because of song count (more then Backspacer 11 is just under average) but because of the number of midtempo songs can fall into one or the other of the before mentioned tempoes

So "fast" or faster songs for me has to be Got Some with Supersonic not far behind

"slow" or slower tempo Untought Known is the winner (see how that midtempo grouping makes it harder to quantify?)

But to Choose Just One would still have to be Unthought Known - the creshendo sound is just stellar - I know I can't spell for beans...sorry

No doubt overall we all can agree it is very strong album

    5. "The End"
    6. "Got Some"

  • The majority of the songs are just average, but "Johnny Guitar," "Just Breathe," and "The End" are a bit better.

    Johnnnnnnyyyyyy!!!!!

I love Johnny Guitar and can not stop listening to it.

Got Some came to live for me when I saw it live in San Diego, though.

Amongst The Waves speaks to me lyrically the most of all the songs, though.

I have to agree with this system cause it does make more sense that way.. so for the fast ones I'd HAVE to say Gonna See My Friend , It's such a kick ass driving song trust me I live in and out of my van, I've been driving to this CD constantly for a week now, Supersonic is a great one too it's also a fun sing along for me, I love it's lyrics and energy.

and the slow one Is SOOOOO Speed Of Sound for me just helps me get through the bad thoughts of a depressed day, well this song and some coffee:-) and Just Breathe makes me cry and I'm not even in love, it's just so incredibly gorgeous musically as well as lyrically I can't even tell you my favorite part of the song cause I love every part.. so those are mine..
