The variety of things that grew out of this thread is amazing ;)

I'm usually good about water before bed, but I was a little fuzzy on what happened on saturday. It's a mystery I plan to solve when I have lunch with my coworkers in a few minutes, hehe.

Definitely some good tips here though. Gatorade has always helped me, but I didn't have any onhand so I managed to get down a light breakfast, lots of water, nap, shower, and then a nice greasy fast food meal. Oh, and the herbal remedies suggested throughout!

Luckily, I don't get the throwing up/pounding headache hangovers really, just the vaguely queasy, totally weak and tired variety. I may have just woken up still drunk is all. It was a long day!

well, at lunch we worked out that at 130am i had a whole pizza with a coworker, so i definitely ate. now if only we could piece together my whereabouts between 2-4 that night. it seems most likely that i passed out on my couch and locked my friend out of my apartment ;)

Drank a little much myself last night as well...need to load some, and go get a coffee. I fucking hate stumbling into the kitchen to find out you have no coffee filters! FUCK!

Supposedly bacon has been scientifically proven to help hangovers... :? I don't have a reference though.

Bananas....and get a big Vitamin water while you're out. They may not have the electrolytes people swear by but they aren't nearly as nasty sweet as Gatorade. If I'm that hung over, I cannot drink the sickly sweet stuff. Coffee, black; Vitamin water then more water. If you actually pee within an hour, you've come close to re-hydrating......
believe it or not, we don't "need" anything. that is only the spoiled brat in us trying to fill some temporary solution to an emptyness that does not exist.

Hmmm.....it's been a looooooooooooooong time since I've had a hangover that was more than just a headache. I think I drink to much!

Anyway, I'd usually go the gatorade and greasy food route.

I don't know how many fn times I've told you people...

B-complex and lots of water before bed.
The two things that hurt you...dehydration and aldehydes. Water...well obviously.
You body metabolizes ethanol to an aldehyde. Aldehydes are not well accepted by any cell in the body. Keep this in mind....when you drink methanol (wood alcohol), your body metabolizes it to formaldehyde. It makes you go blind and can kill you. The difference is a methyl group (CH2).

B-vitamins, specifically B-complex reverses the process of the formation of that aldehyde that makes you feel like shit. Usually long enough for you to pass it through your kidneys to urine.

Come morning, the alcohol has caused your blood sugar to crash. Greasy food sounds good as your brain is fooled by the low blood sugars. Bad idea. Best thing to do is to eat a high glucose, high electrolyte food...like a banana, coconut water. Gatorade works, but natural sugars hit your system faster.

Oh, FYI...if you ever drink bad moonshine (methanol)....the ER will give you good old fashion booze. The EtOH will provide the missing methyl group to save your blindness and/or death. You'll feel like shit the next day but its one of the best treatments for methanol ingestion. :D
