saw kol in atlanta last night and i am very disappointed. they are certainly not the band i used to love. too many new songs on the setlist. i am not a fan of only by the night and it seemed they played every song on the album. anyway not hating just saying i wish they would play some youth every now and then or either some rare tracks. ie ........ head to toe or wicker chair. or trani or even joes head for god sake. bye

yeah...the flame that burned in my heart for them has been violently stomped out. The new hype by teenie-boppers has really turned me off.

I just got back from seeing them at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY with GA. Third time seeing them. I enjoyed it, but I feel like they rushed through the set list. And yes, I did see two parents at Kings of Leon. The pop radio stations here play "Use Somebody" every hour almost. Also, before they played Sex on Fire, Caleb asked the crowd if they were ready to sing, Ughh.

One last rant, I'm tired of people with their cameras out the whole damn show. The guy in front of me pulled his camera out at least 3 times per song, and his girl friend posed for pictures about another ten times. Meanwhile, the whole time he had his flash on.

    I still had fun. :)

I don't mind OBTN anymore. It's not that bad of a record. But God Damn they are terrible live. They get up there play and leave.

yeah seen them 4 times before the OBTN tour but no way I'm seeing them supporting this album or anymore ever again... they are a bad live band even when they had decent music. KOL were one of my favs but no I wouldn't be caught dead at any of their concerts. They have a totally different crowd in 2009. Sad really.

Yeah, not too personable. I really like seeing them in 2005 when they were smaller, and playing clubs...but now, I dunno...I think they've become too "big for their britches" so to say. Would it really kill Caleb to converse with the crowd, I mean...they are fans, right?

They bore the hell out of me live. They are like mannequins. If I want to look at mannequins and listen to music, I will go to a department store. Their albums are good, but Jesus they are horrible on stage.

I couldnt agree more, When I saw them at Lollapalooza 07 they were amazing and just rocked out. Now this year they just stood there in place the whole show and then walked right off stage when it was over. It was lacking something. Maybe they are just going through the motions now since the have been touring for so long.

Never made it to one of their shows, but I agree with this. Checked out some youtube stuff and almost none of it is played at a level I expect pro musicians to perform. Not like a bunch of missed notes or anything, just a bunch of loosey goosiness and not in a good way. None of the members really locked in together.

Glad I didn't go to the ATL show yesterday now. I saw them back in 07 and they killed it and then twice opening for PJ- not many good reviews of them anymore

I'm probably the minority here but I've always thought they were a terrible band and now with the teenie following and that fucking god awful single "need somebody" or whaterver it is...just proved what I already knew.

Saw them twice in 6 months. First time was at Bournemouth in front of about 2000 people the 2nd time was at the O2 Arena in London a 20,000 seat monster. They were better first time around but some of the new stuff seems to have been written to appeal to a new audience.

They have no stage prescence which is surprising considering they supported PJ and should have looked and learned. Finally gave up with them after the Reading Festival fiasco when they behaved like a bunch of pouting pussies. I think Caleb's a bit of a knob.

Bingo! Seems to have a major douche personality. Plus, @ my first show this girl and I was dead center in the front. Caleb was RIGHT in front, and above us. He would not stop staring at the girl I was with.....we were 16. Gross, if you ask me.

And if you can find film of Reading Festival 09 it will be double major douche!!!
    Your story is uncomfortably gross!

I really don't mind that they don't converse with the audience that much. I'm there to see them play, not talk to me anyway. My problem is the last time I saw them, they seemed really annoyed to be there. Like it was some huge burden to get up there and have to do something for a couple of hours a day. That's what turned me off the most.

And to the person who said something about holding cell phones and cameras up the whole time, AMEN! I don't understand it. If you want to watch the show through a tiny screen, why don't you stay and home and watch youtube clips??

Not conversing with the crowd makes me feel they can't be bothered. Some get away with it and don't need to. I never expected Pink Floyd to chat with the crowd but most try. The only other peformer I saw that said nothing the whole show was Van Morrison and he was a really grouchy fucker and you could see he wanted to get off the stage.

I'll be surprised to see KOL around in a couple of years. I don't think they have the internal chemistry to get through any knocks. It's a shame because I think they've done some excellent stuff.

Rocking out isn't mainstream though, if you look like you're actually having fun with it you must be some kind of weirdo.

I've heard that Van Morrison does that. Shame, really. I just personally respect performers who will actually talk to the crowd...makes it feel a little more personal.

I think Van Morrison is one of those people that could pull it off. As nuffingman mentioned, you wouldn't expect Pink Floyd to talk much. I saw Roger Waters a few years ago and didn't say too much to the crowd, same with Ryan Adams. It never came off from them as impersonal or arrogent, just seemed to make it more about the music. I agree with nuffingman, some people can pull it off and some can't. KOL can't. They might could get away with it at club shows but not in front of 20,000 people.

Yeah, good point. Some artists can definitely get away with not saying much more than others.
