Those are fucking awesome, but $300 for two airline bottles in a tin...whaaaaaaaaaaaaat :o Not that you would ever drink them, but that is asking a lot. Does anyone know where those were given out/sold?

pretty steep. you would think they would have at least used something better than old number 7.

personally, i would end up drinking the whiskey on one of those cold winter nights when i had just run out and don't want to go out.

  • I've always wanted those, but there's no way I would ever pay what they go for.

Nice to see one of these finally pop up for sale.
It should go for more than a Bennie vinyl,as its much more rare.
It's kind of sad to see it for sale,as this person must have already gotten
enough enjoyment out of owning such an extremely rare piece
of band memorobila,or they are hurting enough financially, that
they would even think of parting ways (pun intended) with it.

Maybe they need the funds to get to Philly.

    we have a winner.

I would rather go to the shows then hold on to these.

I commend you for coming on here and being so forthright and honest
about it.You owe us no explanation whatsoever.
I just had a hunch about the philly possibility, because of the timing
    of the sale.
You probably realised how these 4 shows could be extremely special and
you would do anything to be able to be there.

Good luck with the sale and i hope you get alot for it!
You will be making someone very happy.

When I see things like this (and I have always wanted one of these) it reminds me that Pearl Jam is a music band. For me it's all about the music. Not saying I don't buy posters or shirts from time to time, but that is ridiculous. $800 for something you can't even enjoy without it losing it's value. I spent $800 on a sealed Benny Hall vinyl. First thing I did was open it, a bottle of red wine and enjoy the beauty of that show. It was worth every penny to me. But hopefully whoever bought it will get some type of enjoyment out of it.

seems they are holding value very well too

shame about the black promo though - that really surprised me

I feel bad for the one who bought it if they were an alcoholic drunk. For those day's looking at it, tempted to drink from it's glory. Going insane & cold not able to taking a sip. Flipping out like Jack from The Shining. The wife & kid's take it away from his hands as they run for their lives.
  • When I worked in the music business back in the day I was given a set of these by a Sony rep (along with an Epic tee shirt, that I still own). They were promptly opened, poured into 4 glasses and drunk by myself and 3 other guys I was with at the time. The empties and the tin were tossed into a bin and consigned to the trash.
How do I feel now? Bit of a stupid prick to be honest, but at the time stuff like this meant absolutely nothing to me. If I had a spare $800 now, I'd probably buy a set, I think they are the coolest promo item ever.
As a matter of interest $800 would buy you about 20 litres of JD in the UK today.
  • ElzarElzar Posts: 966
i have a *replica set of these! :D:D:D

I dont know why the fuss over this is, you can buy the regular JD tin set for around $10 - stick a PJ sticker on it.

Now if the Tin was a PJ design, stamped in like the JD - that would be awesome.

Could you imagine how many people would love a PJ tin, maybe to fit a set of 2009 bootleg CD's in?

I getcha Arq, but this is the coolest promo of all, its as cool as hell...hence the price

You can only liken it to a raleigh 98, or an emek - prices around the 500-1000 region.

Rare, and cool, and desirable, means a hefty price tag.

Seriously i think these are the best collectable there is.

or maybe the hoop set, and considering this is the first auction for it for 4 years you tend to see how rare they are.

    hey P -

so whatever happened to the pics you said you were gonna send me on BRY like a year ago? So you just ignore me instead? Why did you ever offer to do something if you're not?

Well maybe i'm just not used to spend $800 just like that, maybe in a better economy or with a more stable position i would pull the trigger.
