Good question, one I'd like to know the answer to.
There are threads about lame crowds that the answer to this question might play in to. I've seen 4 shows this tour so far and the crowds have been vastly different by night and by location. Seattle show #1 was the lamest pearl jam crowd I've seen in my many many years of following PJ and I believe there are two reasons for that; 1. The amount of friends or guests was ridiculous 2. New 10c members that aren't familiar with the PJ live shows
I think somewhere between 440,000 and 450,000 based on other threads in the recent weeks. I might even be a little low but not by too much.
Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

that's around the highest i've seen/heard of as well. i really don't think there will ever be another *explosion* of 10c #s. sure, the lottery does help.....but overall, seniorty being as it is, most will not get fantastic seats, also add in the limits on fanclub tickets period....that i just don't foresee THAT many new members. of course, there will always be those who join up simply to be a 'part' of the 10c, and/or for deep, the holiday single, etc. i did join for the ticket opportunities, and i guess too, i joined before ever posting on the board, so i guess i was totally unaware. luckily tho, this was 2002 not 2009. :P so alrighty, i already negated my point. hahaha. tho really, i don't imagine that many new fans, or fans who didn't join now finally joining...but that's just my little ole opinion on it.
Thanks! Wow... aproaching the big 450k! Making my 343xxx looking better and better. If PJ keeps pumping out albums I'll be in good shape. There is no seniority on the day tickets go on sale. You can be 75xxx and not get a ticket. The more people behind me, the better my odds are. Woo hoo!

It really does explode around the albums... then after that it ticks up very slowly till the next album comes out. My own theory behind this is that is a lot of the same people. people who join up when an album is coming out so they can get tickets... then they forget about it.. it lapses.. and then they join again for the next tour/album. It makes sense also because of the way you are able to move up from year to year. People forget.. then rejoin.

i know how it works, just sayin' that IF one really read around here first, what kinda #s they are up to, the kinda seats they garner, the lack of availability...that i personally don't think they would *explode* with new memberships, that's all. do memberships rise around new albums.tours? i am sure they do. i just don't think this massive surge is all. tho as someone rightly pointed out, thankfully , seniority don't mean squat as to BUYing tix....so most definitely, that does help.

That was my LA 3 approach. Could only get 1 10c pair for only 1 of the 4 LA nights. So I figured, the 10c area was the same size for each night. Then, I figured most people would go for the 1st and last night. Figured the low 10c people opting for night 4. That meant there was a void in the lower sections with lower numbers opting out of that night. I just needed to get in. In fact, LA3 was very easy to get 10c tickets; the site didn't fall on its face. I fell nicely into the void. With 25x,xxx, I was row 7 above the pit right in front of Jeff and Mike. On that left side of the "oval" pit, I was maybe 15 rows back from the stage. I was right at eye level with Mike. So my trick worked. I don't know how in the hell I would ever get a good seat at a PJ concert. But with this fortunate situation, night 3 of 4, small venue, the seat Gods smiled upon me.

actually tho, as the shows went on sale night 1 first, then night 2, then night 3 and finally night 4....night 4 sat around the longest b/c most - no matter their # - didn't want to risk being shut out of 10c tix entirely. tho you bet, limiting tix to one pair per 10c member for the full run absolutely would make a huge difference!

We'll by explode I'm talking 30 to 50K. It did it around avacado it its looking like it did it again for Backspacer. Thats a big jump out of only 450K. It crawls in between. Very little change if you check back every 5 or 6 months etc. I'm not talking about some new megafame pop fan explosion or something like that. I'm the one who mentioned ticket sales. I'm all the same guy.

has it really gone up that much tho?
i've been hearing #s in the 400xxxs for quite awhile now. tho i guess sure, 30k is HUGE growth, especially for a band out with their 9th album! i wasn't trying to diminsh it at all, just sayin'.....i think the bulk of pj's fanbase is pretty well set. and sure, of course it crawls inbetween, that would hold true with any band that links their fanclub with special ticketing purchases. new albums will always excite fans to action.
well, wouldn't it be both?
when were the ticket sales for the shows? before the album release, no?
so from january to august, a 12k growth...but from august to present, up to 448xxx? so that's 9k growth? pretty close.
definitely agree tho, TOURING is what really drives 10c memberships. i am sure that since avocado there has been decent growth b/c even w/o a new album until now, the band has done some touring!
I let my membership lapse by oh, well, years! (I know, I know I am daft, but hey that's what happens when you're with a bloke who doesn't like PJ for 9 years).
I joined (again) in March 09 and my number is 431 XXX (international, if that makes a difference, to me it doesn't affect seating as we have GA in Europe but I guess it will if I try to get to a gig in the USA next year if they don't play over here)

How is THAT I rejoined in Jan of 2007 and I'm 414XX!?!?!? craziness.. yeah I had to give up my killer number from 93, casue I was too poor to maintain dues NOW it's a traditional X-mas present.. I get it renewed every year fro Christmas from my family.. to ensure that never happens again lol

has anyone ever confirmed that the 10C #'s go up one at a time? maybe they do it in 10's now, or even skipping numbers here and there at random. I remember a friend of mine and I joined at the SAME time (same minute) in 1999 and we were more than 100 numbers apart.

That's weird to see considering I am 148xxx. A 300,000 difference!
