nobody here is going to give you a straight answer. everyone here is way too hip and independent to admit to any sort of affiliation like that.

i'm a registered democrat. i learned long ago 3rd parties are never going to happen here, and as long as the republicans keep pandering to the christian values voters they will get nothing from me. so i typically throw my support to the party that frightens me less.

I just vote my conscience. In national elections it has taken me as far "left" as Ralph Nader and as far "right" as Chuck Baldwin.

That, and I am pretty fuckin' hip. Look at my sweet green glasses and goatee => :ugeek:

Not an American, but politically I am a moderate, I suppose ... Leanings to the left on issues like health care and social programs, leanings to the right on issues like criminal justice and national defense. I support multiculturalism but oppose programs like affirmative action. If any label fits, its probably "red tory" (i.e., a moderate conservative): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_tory

If I WAS an American, I'd probably find myself voting based on current issues ... I'd have voted Democrat in the last election, for instance.

Everyone knows that Republicans and Dems are pretty much on the same team.

Hence, the two-party system. SYSTEM being the key word, as the system will always win.

Gosh, people here nearly crucified me when I said that Obama wasn't God, although I thought he was a good person who would try hard and probably do a good job. I can't for the life of me tell which way they lean. It's not that people are too cool to tell you about their leanings, it's just that you figure it's pretty obvious which way people lean on Pearl Jam board.

    Betterman party.

I voted for a democrat for president, and a republican for governor.

    Me too.

I would have voted for Ron Paul if it wasn't a wasted vote.

I'm a registered Independent. Have been since my first vote in 1992.

I wish I had known more about Ron Paul in early '08. Instead, I was a sheep riding the Obama bandwagon: Bush was so horrible that any non-Republican looked like bliss. In most previous elections, I did vote third party. Vanity got the better of me last year as I also wanted to vote for someone who would win.

I no longer have cable, so I have the pleasure of seeking out less popular news online. I now see that Democrat and Republican are two sides of the same coin. Left wing and Right wing are both parts of the same body with one head.

Oh, that reminds me: I need to log in to my MySpace page and delete the Obama sites that I "friended" in the past. (And why is Firefox not recognising the name "Obama" in its automatic spellcheck thingie?)

Our system of democratic-republicanism is not working like it should, and probably never will, but I don't think there's any other workable system that could create the relative stability and freedom we have in a country like the USA. I once worked for the Green Party, but it was going nowhere fast. Since 2006, I've decided to vote for the Democrats and try to do whatever little I can do to keep them accountable.
  • is there any difference on those 2 in the states..???as i see politics is the same..in Europe is complitly diferent,,see what i vote in europe

technically I am a republican but I don't believe most of the platform they run on so I don't vote party line

The current GOP has been taken over by christian war mongers....I have never understood how a party that was founded on less government intervention could embrace the "pro-life" or "anti-gay marriage" stances they currently hold. To me a true republican should support pro choice and gay marriage based on the simple fact that the government shouldn't be able to peer into our lives and exert that control.

    Loony Liberal...

I'm for insane stuff like single payer health care and nationalized banks, choice for women, gay marriage, decriminalization of pot, re-writing the "rules of capitalism"... but also think people need to have a bomb dropped on their heads once in a while too.

i definitely have been influenced by both, but I am as radical as can get on anarchism/socialism. My hometown houses John Zerzan, during the 1999 WTO riots, he was called the "new leader" of the antiWTo movement.

Anyways Zerzan along with myself, are influenced by Green Anarchy. Which advocates complete destruction of the system and destroying civilization. It advocates a return to the hunter gatherer society and way of life.

For me, this seems to make the most sense.

1st time I've heard of Green Anarchy, but brings to mind Ishmael, for sure. Interesting. Realistically though, only those uncivilized would be able to sustain that hunter/gatherer lifestyle. Surely, 100% destruction of the civilized world would hardly be a progression of anything but death. It would wipe us out almost completely.

i know i will regret asking but isn't anarchism diametrically opposed to socialism? Since socialism requires some form of government control to function.
