Great list, although why would they play Santa Cruz? Seems like a random choice... :)

I actually made a list of what I still need to hear, and here goes . . .

Studio Albums: W.M.A., Tremor Christ, Army Reserve, Smile, Habit, Mankind, God’s Dice, Evacuation, Light Years, Nothing as it Seems, Thin Air, Rival, Sleight of Hand, Parting Ways, Can’t Keep, Cropduster, Ghost, Help Help, Bushleauger, All or None

B-Sides: Hitchhiker, Don’t Gimme No Lip, In the Moonlight, Black Red Yellow, U, Leavin’ Here, Gremmie, Whale Song, Undone, Hold On, Fatal, Other Side, Strangest Tribe, Let Me Sleep, Sweet Lew, Dirty Frank, Brother

So far, I've only heard Ten front to back (although I saw my first PJ show in 2003), so if they were to do WMA, Army Reserve, and Tremor Christ tonight, I could cross 3 more albums off the list . . .let's do it!!!!

  • When they were here in 2006, the opened with Oceans. It was awesome. They wouldn't do it again, would they?

Army Reserve is a great call.

    I'd also like to hear:

    Tremor Christ

I can see an open of Release, with Ed and Matt in their (sort of) hometown.

I expect a rival of the 30 song show of LA 4 with it being in SD and last show before a well deserved break.

Not much can touch Off He Goes, Footsteps and Hunger Strike...was in heaven.

Close with Baba and Yellow LB would be a great homage to past CA shows.

They played Oceans last time they were here in '06. It was amazing!! They just played "Sometimes" so I don't think they will play it tonight.

  • They have to open with Oceans tonight. Whatever celebrity is emailing Ed today should make sure that's at the top of their list.

I still think that because they opened with it in '06, they won't do it again. They opened with Betterman in '03.

I'm feeling "Amongst the Waves" as tonight's opener.

  • Well there's been a lot of shows since then so I'm hoping Ed doesn't remember. But, you're probably right.
  • Has the set list selection process been documented? Does anyone know how it works? Who Picks? etc.

Ten minutes before show time or something like that the band gets together and they decide what to play.

They do a pretty good job of trying to make it flow, make sure the casual fan is happy, and throw in a gem or two for the crazies.

They seem to be very aware of where they are, what they have played before (to an extent), and try to make the set list match the arena/area/mood/day.

They do a real good job IMO...... but I'm one of the crazies, so I would prefer heavy on the post Vitalogy records and light on the Ten/V's era..... (not cause I don't love those songs, but cause I've seen them over a dozen times.

Cool. Thx. I haven't seen them live since they were here in San Diego last time, so I'm sure I'll be psyched to hear them no matter what they pick.
