I went to all 4 shows and ranking them seems too difficult. I haven't heard the boots yet, but here's kinda how it ended up for me:

LA3
LA4
LA2
LA1

Totally objective...anyone else?

3,4,1,2. But I loved them all. I don't remember 1, it feels like it was a million years ago.

I agree, they were all great.
But, I have to say my order would be 4,3,1,2

Night 4 had SO many of my really rare faves.. It was a dream setlist for me.
    LA 7/9/06 & 7/10/06
    The Gorge 7/22/06 & 7/23/06
    Antwerp 8/30/06
    Bridge 2 10/22/06
    Honolulu 12/2/06 & 12/9/06
    Munich 6/12/07
    Katowice 6/13/07, London 6/18/07, Lollapalooza 8/07, LA (EV) 4/12/08 & 4/13/08, Ouside Lands 09
  • I don't think I can rate which is best, so here are my thoughts on the 4 shows:

For the setlist of new/old and covers I think night 1 was the best. Black was Fantastic.
Night 2 had I believe the best crowd.
Night 3 - I did not think it was that Great of a show until the encores. If it wasn't for the surprise guest's I would say it was my least favorite of the stand.
Night 4 was good for for the rarities. The show pacing felt a little awkward at times, but did have it's moments.

For San Diego, I would like to hear the following:
Supersonic (how this has not been played yet, is hard to believe)
    Not For You
    Brother
    Release
Cropduster (I know, but I really like this live)
    The Real Me
    Immortality

I only went to night 2 and it was great. It would have been nice to have been at night 3. Looking forward to San Diego. I’m hoping for Release, Wash, or Hard to Imagine as an opener.
    San Diego 10/25/00, 6/5/03, 7/7/06, 10/9/09, 11/21/13 LA 10/1/09, 11/23/13 VH1 Rock Honors 7/17/08, Hawaii 12/9/06 Bridge School 10/23/10, 10/23/11 EV 4/15/08, 4/16/08, 7/5/11, 7/8/11

    Setlist: 4, 1, 3, 2.
    Crowd Energy: 2, 4, 3, 1.

If I could only have gone to 1 show it would have been: 4

So I guess my overall ranking would be:

    4
    3
    1
    2

LA3 (AKA Monsters of Grunge night) was the best- even before Chris came out. Eddie and the guys were just fuckin ON, Ed was so into it he didn't bother to swig his wine bottle for the whole first set. Night three they were in the ZONE.

LA4 was amazing too. The first two were great shows, but the last two were special.

    Night 4, Night 1, Night 2, Night 3
I gather speed from you fucking with me.
  • I missed 3 which likely would have been the top of my list.

For the other three, I rank them as 1, 2 and 4.

The band sounded great the first night and I've never seen them come out rocking like they did night 1. I could care less that Ed didn't like the crowd. The energy night 2 plus Jeremy was strong.

I saw night 4 as a bit choppy given they were trying to fit in so many "serious collector" lost dogs (btw - set list missed Wash) with the new tunes. I grew a bit tired of the new stuff including the predictable first encore by the last night. Overall, still solid, but the bottom of the 4 for me.

I was only @ 3 & 4... everyone is so quick to give the nod to night 3 because or Cornell ... but night 4 was better. ATY, Alone, Crown and Untitled ... that takes the award. night 3 was great too, but it was an average set aide from Hunger Strike. I bet that anyone who went to all 4 shows would have raked it fourth if Cornell didn't jump on stage for HS.

I AGREE. BUT THE EXCITEMENT OF CORNELL AND THE OPENING CHORDS OF HUNGER STRIKE WAS ABSOLUTELY NUTS! PEOPLE WERE HUGGING, GIVING EACH OTHER HIGH FIVES. ONE GUY SCREAMED TO HIS BUDDY, "DUDE, ARE YOU F'IN KIDDING ME!" IT WAS NUTS. IT WAS FUN. IT WAS FULL CIRCLE FOR ALL OF US. THAT'S WHAT MADE LA 3 THE BEST. . . AND I HAVE YET SEEN ANY COMMENTS ON THE 2ND ENCORE: ONCE, FOOTSTEPS, HUNGER STRIKE, AND UHH ALIVE. . . C'MON NOW!!!!!!!!!! FULL CIRCLE!

    This.

The first night the band provided so much energy that I just don't think the crowd could keep up.

But DAMN if I always miss the more rare setlists! When I saw what was going down for night's 3 and 4, I told my wife that I was no longer allowed to pick what shows we go to. That said, they better not come out cookie-cutter for San Diego. I have a strong feeling that its gonna be another 'water' show...

  • 3 and 4... wow... it's SOOOO hard to pick.

Night 3 was a solid show, not great, but very solid until Hunger Strike. Then it went from good to Incredible!

Night 4 had the setlist i'd been hungry to see for many, many years.

I'm going to go with night 3, b/c i will NEVER forget the crowd, and how i felt when i heard Chris Cornell's name. Eddie didn't even have to hype it up, just flatly stated 'please welcome to the stage, Mr. Chris Cornell'

    It felt like an earthquake.

So, saying that, and to echo quite a few rankings here,

    3, 4, 1, 2.

at ACL he talked up Perry Farell so much that i thought neil or bruce were coming out!
This show, another show, a show here and a show there.

  • i was at all 4

night 4 clearly had the best setlist and I agree that 3 was a fairly standard show until the encore.... BUT, that being said,if all that were at all 4 were asked to pick just one... there's no way they pick ANYTHING other than night 3(if they could've only gone to one show).... what happened when Cornell was announced was something I can only compare to feeling when i was at game 6 of the 96 world series when the final out was made and mayhem ensued for all Yankee fans... people highfiving strangers.... screams and yelps.... people crying.... just pure utter nirvana basically.... it was insane..... i have a torn ACL right now and even I felt like I lifted up off the floor.... you just can't explain what happened that night....

I must say I am so glald I decided to go to all 4. Each night I went home thinking how it could get better, but each night had its own special thing going on for me.

Night 1 I had tix in the 7th row center stage, so being that close really made that night ROCK!

Night 2 I took my sister to her first Pearl Jam show (she is 20) I had taken my brother in 02 and she has been begging ever since, so seing her get so into PJ was just amazing to me, really made that night memerable.

Night 3, well as we all know Chris Cornell showed up, so that was beyond anything I would have ever imagined happening.

Night 4 setlist was one treat after another..... bonus highlight was when Ben came out for Indifference, my girlfriend was hoping for that all 4 nights and finally we got it on the last show - AWESOME.

So if I had to rank them, I would say 4,3,1,2

I also went to San Fran and San Diego, both of which were pretty amazing, but the Gibson is the best place I have ever seen PJ play and I really hope they play there every time from here on out.

All four shows were great, the crowds were a bit different each time, 2 and 3 being the best for that

you really do have to put an * next to night three because of Hungerstrike. It was special and made the night different. shows that one song and one guest can dramatically change a show. as far as the nights overall

    4,1,3,2

they were all great and each had its own positives. Night 1s opening set was fukin awesome. It was loud and it had old school jams (tremor, rats) and it flowed incredibly well. I was looking forward for this bootleg the most out of the 4 LA shows because of how good this opening set rocked and went together (with night 3 with cornell coming in a close second). The encore was the first time I got to see just breathe, the end, w/ strings and it really was beautiful to see/hear.
Night 2 was solid but you had the same basic encores and had many of the sing a longs, which I do like but also i've seen a lot now. The crowd was much improved from the night before and the energy all night was very good, but the show least likely to download.
Night 3 had a ton of energy. It really was the show the crowd rocked to the most. My seats the last two nights gave me a great view from the side (stones) of the whole place and I could just see more people rocking night three than 4. Hungerstrike was as awesome as you would imagine. Incredible moment and made the night a special one. The whole show overall, without hungerstrike, was again awesome but not as good as night 1.
Night 4, they basically opened with 4 openers, like they werent sure how to do this. It was great. Got some great old school jams, vedder was pumped, blood sounded awesome as did reign o'er me. The whole night kicked ass from start to finish, the crowd was pumped, and it was the longest show, making it the best show

I think people are passing up on LA 1 because of the encores, but the opening set was worth it.

I think 3 and 4 were both up there, 2 has potential for being the worst show on the tour so far. Driven to Tears and Dissident will do that. Night 2's setlist was below average. Night 1 was alright, but nothing spectacular
