Just returning to the east coast & reality after an amazing 3 days in Austin. What a great festival. That city does an awesome job.
Overall --- impressed by Phoenix, Artic Monkey's, & Dead Weather. Them Crooked Vultures were really cool to see. The songs were not that great but incredible music. JPJ &...Dave Grohl is the most amazing drummer. I basically watched him the entire time.

Kings of Leon were great. They sound right off the record. Caleb has a sick voice. The coolest moment-- and one of my favorite music moments of all time....when Caleb announced Eddie. The entire place went NUTS! I have never seen an energy like that. Including Eddie. He looked like a giddy little kid that was just so exicted to be up there. Was truly amazing.

& PJ of course killed it. Eddie called the audienace an ocean bc it was literally just a sea of people for what looked to be miles deep. To wrap-up.........about ? 50-60? bands played the festival over 3 days. Then by 8pm sunday there was just 1 left to close it out. And they basically said to the rest of them......ok now we are going to show you how to really do it.

anyone else there all 3 days?

Was there all 3 days also, saw Them Crooked Vultures Wed. night at the ACL taping!, went to Threadgills on Thurs and Fri morning before the festival even started and saw 12 acts that were playing at the festival play about 2-3 songs each at the KGSR broadcast. I thought Medeski, Martin and Wood were GREAT, KOL were not bad, other highlights for me Heartless Bastards, Papa Mali, Sam Roberts, Grizzly Bear, The Dead Weather, The Green Cards, Todd Snider.

LOVED Levon Helm Band, And You will Know us by The Trail Of the Dead was AWESOME! David Garza, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears.

And of course Pearl Jam, with a little Perry Farell singing Mountain Song for added measure, I am VERY lucky to live in Austin and go to this amazing festival every year and get into ACL tapings and the SXSW in March, I have lived here for 15 years and haven't regretted it for one second.

What a great weekend that was! I saw TCV twice- at the aftershow Thursday night and then the next day. They were awesome. Of course, PJ was the highlight! Highly enjoyed Dead Weather, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Raphael Saadiq, The Decemberists, and Toadies too.

this is was our 3rd year in a row to hit the 3-day fest. in my opinion, this was the best i'd seen. Bon Iver, Heartless Bastards, Them Crooked Vultures, KOL, Dead Weather, and of course ...PEARL JAM brought the house down!!

    can't wait for next year!

  • I really wanted to see Ben Harper, but traveling between the two stages seemed like too much work so I had to see the Dead Weather instead. I am not sorry I did. They were awesome.

My other favorite acts were Deer Tick and the Felice Brothers. Both had great songs and were fun to watch.
