A LOT of Ten and vitalogy LPs are reprints. Is hard to find a 1st press sealed of those albums.

    Why not (V) (°,,,,°) (V) ?

I'm not a psychic but I've seen web sites stating that they're selling reprints.

    Edited:
by the way you don't have to believe me, someone else posted a website a long time ago here on the board that was selling vitalogy reprints.

  • i have no reason not to believe you....

in fact, on that Sony site there are 2 different versions of TEN vinyl

release dates says 1994 and the other says 2007 from Epic Europe

mine is def not a reprint, vitalogy was first released on vinyl before the cd so you had to get the vinyl or wait some time

right before PJ left Epic .. Sony flooded the market .. with what was still in print .. the catalog numbers are the same .. i might be wrong but i don't think so

    :o What are you insinuating?!

meh... maybe you know me... ;)

It was actually a gift. A friend bought it back in '94, didn't play it and so it just sat in her cupboard until she gave it to me 3 years ago. She also gave me mint condition 12" Daughter (with poster) and a mint condition 12" Singles Soundtrack.

I have the best friends

yeah, i just read the details on that site. Its not actually Sony, they have deal with Amazon, so in essence you are looking at products from anyone who sells via Amazon. no need to even go to the Sony site I guess...I searched Amazon and found all the same products for exact same prices, etc...

Totally explains why the price jumped last night then when i first posted the thread .. $40 to $79 in a matter of minutes ..

Yes, you can discover if a vinyl was part of a first pressing or subsequent pressing. Every vinyl has a code (I'm sure there is an actual term for this), a series of letters and numbers printed on the cover (generally along the outer edge, not the front or back cover) and on the vinyl itself.

You can get guides or use the internet to figure out when your vinyl was pressed and if it was part of a first pressing. Whenever you buy a vinyl that claims to be a first pressing, you should require the code and look it up to make sure that's what it is.

I am no expert, so others may want to add or modify this info.
  • the vinyl should have a date on the covering or the booklet of the press date

like i said i know mine is original since i bought it in 1994 myself from the local record store
and you could only get vitalogy on vinyl first
