I logged in and typed this whole introspective piece about PJ being the soundtract of my life. Through my son's birth, marriage break up, soul searching, getting remarried, having more kids, northridge earthquake, parents passing away. Citing songs and albums and how each one carried me through these times. Typed for over an hour.
When I submitted it, it came back saying I had to be logged on. I was logged on. I logged on. So I was prompted with username and password. I typed it in. The next screen was a blank message ready to be typed in. All was lost.
So this time, I'll cut to the point... LA3 is my only shot this year. PJ has been the soundtrack of my adult life. Play all of most of Backspacer tonight. Aside that, I hope they play SAD and In my Tree. And again, "F" this smoldering cow paddy of a software package.

Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river

It's not a fault of the software. You timed out - simple. All good software does this. I generally set time-outs at about 30 mins on sites I build, but some are set much lower for security. For example, my internet banking seems to time out after only a couple of minutes. As a rule, write any long posts in a text editor first and then cut and paste. If the time-out length was longer and you forgot to log off on a public computer you'd have dickwads creating posts under your name, it's a security type thing put in place because very few people bother to click 'logout' when they leave.0 -
after you log in, just keep going back pages in your browser till you get to it, it should still be complete, sometimes i leave my computer with the board still up, then i come back and try to reply in a thread but i timed out...i log back in and back tack a little bit in my pages and everything i typed is usually still there0

Wait, that's not funny - I get logged out 50x day0 -
The funny thing is that I'm lokked in all day. Even if I exit and get back in, I go right back to my logged in status. After several hours, if I exit and get back in, I have to log in again. I guess there is a different clock for the screen where you type a message. Next time I'll type it in an editor and paste.Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0

That's exactly what I tried. But it was like a banking website and came up with that white screen saying "warning- your web page has expired".Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0 -

You may find there is something in you IE or FF settings. I built/run a similar sized site using comparable software (this site uses dupral and phpBB3 forum - I tend to use Joomla and Kunena forum). Check how your browser handles sessoin cookies. Between the actual time-out rate and the cookies on your system the answer will lie. When you click back - it resets this cookie, but if you time out while typing a message I don't think tis is the case. phpbb3 uses a bridge to combine the dupral database, this may also be the reason. Sorry for the geek-speakSee you at LA3 tonight!!!
BTW, i'm fairly certain phpbb is probably the highest regarded forum software around.Post edited by Paul Andrews on0 -

Perhaps you've been lucky enough in life just to get to listen to this band, but for the rest of where .."Sometimes life just doesn't leave you alone.." Pearl Jam is our soundtrack get over it we need it to get through cause life is a viccious bitch, and it gets ya through the shit ya got to crawl out of when you're at the bottom of life's hills. I totally agree with them being the soundtrack to many people's lives including mine.0 -

Yay, I'm not alone. PJ got me through several momentus occasions in my life both good and horrible. I think that if I hear a song and I'm launched mentally right back into those times to the point where I even remember the weather on a particular day, "soundtrack" applies.Up here so high I start to shake, Up here so high the sky I scrape, I've no fear but for falling down, So look out below I am falling now, Falling down,...not staying down, Could’ve held me up, rather tear me down, Drown in the river0 -

Wasn't that one the Dick Clarke used?
Despite it's dodgy origins it is a pretty fitting phrase. There have been numerous times including now, where i've found solice, inspiration, motivation or peace from the music and lyrics of Pearl Jam. I think we all have, it is why this band is so special to us all. Let's all lighten up on each other hey?0 -
